Grief&Praise - a benefit for the campfire: Ritual, Music & Dance

Grief and Praise - a Campfire benefit event (see below for local causes that will be receiving any money we raise) An afternoon and evening of community ritual, live music and dance 12/22 4pm - midnight at the Dorothy Johnson Center, 775 E 16th st, Chico Sliding scale - requested donation anywhere from $12 to $22 million ; ) (for people who lost their homes in the fire please know that the $12 bottom end of the scale is just a guide and you are welcome to come for free if that’s what you need) Schedule: 4pm - 6.30 Dropping deep into our feelings and vision with transformational breathwork (see info below about preparation for this) 6-7.30 vegan coconut veggie and lentil stew by Om foods ($10 with part of proceeds for the stew shared with the benefit ) 6.30-9pm Live Music with Aea Luz, John-Michael Sun, jim Brobeck and Diana Suzuki, Luke Anderson and the Moes family band 9-11.30pm Ecstatic Dance with DJ Medicine Heart Thanks to chico natural foods for keg of kombucha and fruit donation for the evening All funds raised at the event on Saturday will be shared equally between the following local campfire causes: 1. Disaster Strikeforce Relief Organization: the volunteer actions of Luigi Balsamo and others working to create solutions for the Camp Fire Evacuees, including essential living care for between 20 and 30 young families with kids displaced by the fire who are in great need. 100% of the proceeds received by the Disaster Strikeforce Relief Organization go directly towards these families most in need. 2. North Valley Mutual Aid & Council for Grieving for their 3 hr events ‘Mutual Aid Support for Grieving and Carrying On’. These are circles of support for deep listening & sharing grief, open to all adults and youth impacted by the Camp Fire, which include expressive art activities & supplies, relaxed conversation over tea, movement for stress reduction/restoring ease, herbal medicines, self-care skills sharing. Text Malama @ 530-864-2134 for info. 3.Turkey Tail Farm - an organic farm known and loved by many that burned in the fire. Small scale organic farms are key to the health and sustainability of our region and Samantha Zangrilli has offered a lot to this community including years with the bicycle music festival and it feels good to offer back in this time of need for her and Cheetah Tchudi as they rebuild. https://www.gofundme.com/hykm9-camp-fire-victims-fund 4. A family in our community who had a really tough year, losing one of their children a year ago and then losing their home in the fire. They have found a trailer and need some more funds to make it livable. The following morning 12/23 will be a continuation of the benefit at Soul Shake Ecstatic dance 10am-noon with Jacia If you are wanting to attend the breathwork part at 4pm 1. Arrive promptly at 4 pm. The doors will open at 3.45 and close at 4.15 - there will be no late entry during the breathwork. Doors will reopen again at 6.15 for the Live music. 2. Bring a yoga mat or something else soft to lie on, a pillow, a blanket to cover yourself, a blindfold, some tissues or tp, a water bottle, and a journal and pen 3. Eat no later than 1pm so you’ll have an empty stomach. Hydrate well around 3 pm but less so from 3.30pm onwards (so you won’t need to get up to pee in the middle of your breathwork experience
