Guatemala Lake Atitlan New Year´s Retreat 29th Dezember 2021 to 7Th January 2022 Acroyoga - Hiking - Yoga - Thai Massage - Meditation - Sauna - Cacao Dance We will spend an unforgettable 10 days in a magical place doing the activities that we love the most; Acroyoga and Partner Acrobatics, Yoga and Prehab, Hiking, Swimming and enjoying Lake Atitlan, Sauna Nights, Acro Jams, Meditation Sessions , Music and a special Cocoa dance ceremony open to the local community. In addition, we will also have free time to relax, do some of the many extra activities offered by the place and of course enjoy local food, something that we are very passionate about in our retreats. The focus of the retreat will be to learn and deepen the techniques of Acroyoga and partner acrobatics, but the overall experience will be very complete and balanced. We believe in the potential of Acro to develop at all levels (personal, interpersonal, social, community…) in a fun and healthy way supported by a community of like-minded people. We love to combine this with other complementary activities that add to and enrich the experience. We believe that these retreats are a great opportunity to learn and grow personally. We experience this in our own skin through the years and many retreats, also enriching ourselves with the feedback and experience of our collaborators and participants who have come with us in one or multiple occasions. ABOUT GUATEMALA Guatemala is a country of extraordinary cultural and natural wealth and with a privileged geographical location. The distances from place to place are short, which allows you to visit several regions on the same trip. It is a unique country, adventure, unforgettable, between its past and present. Known as the country of eternal spring, it enjoys a pleasant climate that allows you to visit it at any time of the year. In addition, it offers several access possibilities from anywhere in the world, with two international airports: La Aurora, located in the capital city; and Mundo Maya, located in the department of Petén. The color of its handicraft markets and its regional costumes, the hospitality of its people, the beauty of its natural landscapes that frame volcanoes, lakes, rivers and mountains, make Guatemala engraved in the hearts of those who visit it. Its natural, cultural and historical heritage can be discovered in every corner of the country. Guatemala hosts the largest number of archeological sites in the Mayan culture, surrounded by impressive flora and fauna, which makes them true lungs of humanity. The magic and mystery of the Mayan World remain in ancient cities such as Tikal, Yaxhá, Aguateca, Mirador, Quiriguá among others. The variety of more than 720 species of birds, makes it a wonderful and important destination to observe them. ABOUT THE PLACE Eagle´s Nest is a dream retreat center located on the shores of Lake Atitlan in the Villa de San Marcos-La Laguna in the department of Sololá. Lake Atitlan has a volcanic origin and is surrounded by three volcanoes of more than 3000 m The beauty of the lake, volcanoes, tropical vegetation and the villages surrounding the lagoon makes this place qualified by many as a paradise on earth and be considered as one of the nerve centers of Central America. It is a meeting point for people from all over the world who are going to learn and enjoy the authenticity and magic of the place. The Lagoon is surrounded by several villages, each with a different style and offer. The best known perhaps is Panajachel, perfect for family travelers looking for good services and amenities; San Marcos La Laguna is a place where spiritual travelers, yogis and people who seek inspiration and connect with the magic and traditions of this place go, this is where Eagle’s Nest is; Jaibalito is a perfect town for loners seeking peace and tranquility and finally San Pedro La Laguna is the ideal place for backpackers, partiers and young souls. San Marcos is the ideal place to spend a few days enjoying the relaxation that the lake offers. It is one of the smallest villages in the area that has the incentive of having one of the best views of the lake with the three volcanoes from its pier. It is said that Lake Atitlan has an irresistible mystical force. There you will find a wide variety of classes, ceremonies and meetings of Yoga, Meditation, Percussion, Dance, Acroyoga…. Eagle´s Nest is a retreat center made with great taste, taking care of every detail. All buildings are made with local natural materials, wood, bamboo, adobe. It has wooden cabins, Glamping space and Studios to adapt to the needs of each person or group. The place is run by our friend Greg, a lovely people who is passionate about acroyoga dance, movement. The acroyoga and his potential to create community was his great inspiration to create this place. We could have a good time talking about the beauty of this place but sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words so we invite you to take a look at the Eagle’s nest website, it is impressive, we hope you like us both and you understand why we make our retreat in this place;) PROGRAM AND ACTIVITIES Our intention is to be able to enjoy the places that we will visit, while we carry out activities that we are passionate about, for that reason the program is very complete and intense. Although there will also be moments for rest. None of the activities are mandatory, and we recommend that you listen to your body and take breaks if you need it. The program is flexible because when doing many outdoor activities, for some of them we depend on the weather conditions. ACROYOGA AcroYoga is much more than just the mix of Yoga, Acrobatics, and Thai Massage. For us, it is a new take on all three of these, a different perspective which allows us to explore the huge potential of these traditional activities to cultivate many values that transcend the physical practice, which are normally more difficult to harvest when they are practised individually. Understanding and connecting to oneself and others, positive communication, social inclusion, trust, creation and support of community, are only a few of the yields of just a few days of practicing Acroyoga. It installs a mentality of personal growth, overcoming of obstacles, overstepping limits, and supporting others to do the same, thanks to the safe and supportive environment which is created in the AcroYoga community. It empowers practitioners to levels they would have never expected, elevating them to reach new heights of consciousness. Join and be surprised by your own hidden capabilities. You do not need previous experience. We will adapt the level according to the participants and can split the group at times to facilitate learning at different levels. HIKING We consider hiking an excellent practise to discover, feel and enjoy beautiful places. We love to hike in Desert, Mountains, Canyons, Valleys... For us hiking is an active meditation which helps us to cleanse the body, mind and spirit. We will do soe hikes around the village of San Marcos and the Lake to appreciate the beauty and nature of this magical natural park. YOGA & THERAPEUTIC EXERCISE Yoga is an ancient practice originated in India which considers the body mind and soul in a holistic manner. His practice combines mind control and breathing with a series of asanas or postures and a philosophy of life based on self-knowledge, respect, compassion, positive communication and unconditional love. Wake up each morning to some Yoga and therapeutic exercise, guided by a yoga teacher and a physiotherapist to revitalize and face a fun-filled day with healthy joints and muscles. We will practice body mobilization, stretching, partner exercises, breathing, massages, and specific exercises for AcroYoga. MEDITATION We percibe meditation as a tool to help us to connect with ourselves, to calm the mind of overproduction of thoughts, to be more aware of our emotions and physical-emotional states, to develop more fully and to be healthier and more balanced. In our retreats we especially like to meditate in nature and places such as caves, volcanoes, beaches, forests or places with special energy. SAUNA The sauna is a steam bath or sweating that is performed in a very high temperature enclosure. The sauna has good effects on the body, by releasing, through sweating, which is usually abundant and rapid, toxins and activate blood circulation. It is always accompanied by temperature contrasts, the heat session is followed by a cooling session, which extends the effects of sweating. It is taken for hygienic and therapeutic purposes. The sauna is the perfect complement to our daily training for many reasons. The heat dilates the capillaries of the skin to maintain blood pressure by increasing the temperature, which is multiplied by two, which increases blood circulation on the surface of the skin. During the retreat we will have two nights in which we could use the sauna. THAI MASSAGE The Thai Massage is a type of massage with influences of Indian, Chinese and Thai indigenous traditions, which combines acupressure, mobilizations, stretching and yoga postures, in a breathing and movement dance where both the one who gives it and the benefit who receives it During the retreat, we will conduct several Thai massage workshops to immerse ourselves in this beautiful practice. ECSTATIC DANCE Ecstatic Dance is a form of free expression through intuitive movement, guided by music. Ecstatic Dance floor is a space of non judgement, where you can be any version of your-self – so why not allow yourself to be the truest version of you!? Move experimentally. Move to mirror your internal state. Move to make a statement. Move for the sake of it. Move to play. Move to harmonize…or maybe don’t more. There are no rules. There is no right or wrong. There is only you, the space, the music and the vibration. The Cacao dance we will do a Cacao ceremony followed by a ecstatic dance session open to the local community. THE PHILOSOPHY OF OUR TRIPS We would like this trip to be a unique and wonderful experience. We want to have a group of people who like to learn, share, travel, and enjoy life in community. We would like proactive, positive, open-minded and flexible people to join the trip. The dynamics of the trip and the activities require a minimum physical condition to carry out the activities, if you have any doubts about it, let us know and we will try to help you. In our trips and retreats we always try to work with local people and communities, always avoiding multinationals and big companies to favor the local and family economy. We also like to share with local communities and people so that our presence in the place is respectful and favors the people of the place we visit. In addition we always try to be respectful with nature, so we ask you to help us reduce the ecological impact as much as possible. The places we will visit are protected and have a high ecological value. HOW TO GET THERE? Best way to get there is flying to Guatemala international Airport and from there go to Antigua. Antigua is a very beautiful and interesting colonial town surrounded by volcanoes which is totally worthy to visit. from There you can take a taxi to San Marcos La Laguna. We will offer different pick up options to get to Eagle´s Nest. One of then includes a night in Antigua with breakfast. Ask as if you would like to know more about it.
