• What does the term HANGLOOSE mean ? As used in the Hawaiian Islands, "Hang Loose or "Shocka" is used as a non verbal expression 🤙🏻 ; or greeting. • WHY ITS CALLED “ HANGLOOSE “ ? While living in NYC, our founder Amit Shaw came across dancers who would organise Dance Jam sessions over the weekends and share their passion, knowledge, space and craft together for self development and sometimes they would end up creating performance pieces or productions together. These collaborations are important. On his vacation in Hawaii in 2013, he came across the term , “HANGLOOSE” or “SHOCKA” and that helped him start the NYC trend with a mix of Hawaii to bring in the seriousness with fun. WHATS THE INTENTION IN KOLKATA, INDIA ? It’s a community event where like minded dancers, choreographers & artistes •COME • MEET • DANCE • REPEAT week after week. It brings in collaborative work opportunities and many other possibilities which helps us build a community and take the arts forward. The sessions are interactive and the participants decide what, when and how they want to proceed. You come in with an open mind to the new possibilities to unveil with time. The venue is provided by DNA DANCEWORKS BODYWORKS in Park Circus. WHAT WE DO MONDAY TO FRIDAY?? Monday: Jazz Dance Tuesday: Latin Dance Wednesday: Hip Hop Thursday: Contemporary Dance / Ballet FRIDAYS ARE SPECIAL DAYS TO HOST A FILM / DOCUMENTARIES on artistes who have or are contributing to the performing arts all over the world. This follows by a short discussions on the film / artiste we choose with high tea.
