Harvard Tango Workshops w Javier Rodriguez!

HARVARD TANGO welcomes the legendary JAVIER RODRIGUEZ back to Boston for a week-long residency at Harvard. To sign up for any or all of the workshops, see the following schedule, topics, and price list, then send payment on Venmo along with an email to [email protected] to confirm your registration; include your full name, email, role, and number and names of classes you will take. For those wishing to study intensively with Javier, one of the true masters of tango salon, he encourages you to think of this series of workshops as a continuous lesson over the course of several days. No partner is required to register, but if you'd like to have someone to practice with consistently during the workshops, you are encouraged to seek out a partner before or during the workshops. Everyone will be encouraged to rotate, but those registering with a partner may choose not to. The technique workshops, which are designed for both leaders and followers, may be taken individually. Private lessons are available only to those who also register for the workshops. COST 6:30-7:30pm workshop with Javier: $40 ($30 for students) Milonga admission including the live performance: $30 ($25 for students) Workshop & milonga: $60 ($45 for students) Friday, Oct 13: Barker Center Cafe / 12 Quincy Street Two 75-minute musicality workshops w/Javier & Fernanda 6:30-7pm: check in, warm up, registration 7-8:15pm: first workshop on musicality: "finding music in all of your body" 8:30-9:45pm: second workshop on musicality: "exploring the richness of tango music by one body transporting the music to another body"* *Please note: per the instructors' request, you may sign up for the first workshop or both, but not the second workshop only. The 75-minute workshops (Javier & Fernanda) on Friday are $55 each at the door ($45 each for students). Saturday, Oct 14: Three 60-minute workshops with Javier Farkas Hall: Room 203 (walk up to second floor) @ 12 Holyoke St in Cambridge (not Boston!) 12-12:30pm: check-in, registration, warm-up 12:30-1:30pm: int/adv tango salon technique for both leaders & followers 1:45pm-2:45pm: int/adv dynamic turns with enrosques & contra-enrosques 3-4:15pm: milonga with traspie: rhythm & cadencia SATURDAY WORKSHOP COST All 60-minute workshops on Saturday are $50 ($40 for students). After you confirm your registration, there are no refunds. You may, however, transfer your classes to someone else; in order to do so, you must provide their name at least a day before the workshop/s in question. Please note: privates are only available to those who also register for the workshops. BIO Javier Rodriguez is one of the most renowned masters of Argentine Tango. His tango – pure, traditional, elegant -- comes from the authentic roots of Villa Urquiza in Buenos Aires. Since 1998, he has been touring extensively at the most important tango festivals across the world. He is known not only for the elegance, musicality, and emotion in his dance, but also for his pedagogy, which came as a result of his passion and respect for the traditional Argentine Tango. In an interview in “La Milonga Argentina”, Javier was referred to as a young “old” milonguero: a dancer with the heart of an old milonguero in a young man's body. Although the tango has evolved through the years with new elements added, Javier remains dedicated to the tango that he has known and has come to love: the tango that emphasizes the embrace, the walk, the music, the feeling, and the traditional codigos of the milongas. Javier is a continuous inspiration for many many tango lovers who want to discover and find the pure, authentic tango.
