About this Event
OK to all my people, here is the info! I've been getting so many responses and questions today that my blackberry crashed on me, so I'm consolidating all my answers in this forum type of environment so we can all communicate.
Ok so here are some questions that I've received. Let me answer them one by one:
1) Q: Jimmy, what time does the party start?
A: Salsero time. Really. I know all of y'all are going to be late any way OR take a "quick nap" after work (and never wake up)....so get there when you can. The restaurant officially ends at 1am, but we've persuaded the owner to extend "unofficially" till 2am. If the party still goes on after 2, it'll end whenever Dola gets tired.
2) Q: Jimmy, how should I dress?
A: You can wear a t-shirt if you want to. Hell, you could even wear flip flops if you're too cool for school.....but for those of you who know me, you KNOW I'll be dressed like it's a night out on the town! And why shouldn't you.... Salsa con clase, let's bring a little of that Palladium feel into the modern age!
3) Q: Jimmy, who's DJ'ing?
A: DJ Dola will be our our musical guide. For those of you who know Dola, you know what to expect :)......For those who don't, DJ Dola has ROCKED THE HOUSE all over Switzerland, the UK, Russia, and most of Europe....he is in DC now because of work, but what a gem we have! I want to kiss Dola's boss for bringing him to DC!
4) Q: But Jimmy, I live in Maryland....
A: I live in Maryland too! For those who don't want to/can't drive, lets create some carpools going...comment if you need a ride and lets work things out. I don't want to leave anyone hanging because its the people and the MUSIC that make it happen, not the venue.
5) Q: Jimmy, what's the atmosphere going to be like?
A: There's TV's all around like TSR, drink specials like any bar, and a wooden floor like the Palladium....it's not the venue that makes the party hot, it's the dancers and THE MUSIC.... but there's some extra pluses - Free water (so you don't need to sneak those bottles in) and spacious parking. I'm trying to recreate what we experienced at Han's house party.....pure awesome.
6) Q: But Jimmy, it's Mayu and Christina's birthday party this Friday....
A: FIRST OFF, Happy Birthday!! I don't quite know the details, but if it's like anybody else's birthday party, it's going to involve the obligatory dancing after dinner. Whoever is organizing their birthdays, get with me in private if y'all want to dance at this party. I'm trying to create a party that will last in the memories of people....
7) Q: Who's teaching and what time?
A: Yes, Luz and I are teaching. I know most of you getting this message are professionals and amazing dancers in your own right, so I don't expect most of you to take classes. BUT if you are even the slightest bit interested, check out some of the videos I've posted, they'll give you a taste of what I do best and what Luz does best....but most of you guys already know what our strengths are. Classes start at 8:30 till 10pm. I want to make it open so you guys pick what you want to learn....ex. Luz's incredible styling or some of my patterns or my own sabor a la yoon. Let us know.
If there are any other questions, and if I've missed anything, let me know via comments and I will answer them! Otherwise, spread the word because just from my texting this afternoon, this party is going to be CRACKIN!!!!!!!!!!
I love you all,
Jimmy (also written on behalf of Luz and Dola, with love)
P.S. Sorry, this message was not intended for those that live in SF, Miami, UK, Paris, Turkey, South Korea, etc....the magic of the lazy "send all"..... :)
