Pre-Carnaval night at Lula – Holiday samba party To celebrate the holidays and the end of 2017, Batucada will bring you the Carnaval-style joy of Brazil from the stage at Lula Lounge. Our drums and strings will play and sing the sounds of the traditional, contagious national party. The night will start off with traditional, authentic bossa nova/Brazilian jazz from great Brazilian performers André Valério (acoustic guitar) and Babi Mendes (vocals), with guest Maninho Costa (percussion). Come for dinner and enjoy this beautiful music brought to you by some of the city’s best. Next, Lula Lounge presents a free samba lesson with Marilyn Deguire. Learn some new steps before the main event, when Batucada takes you straight to Rio! Doors: 7:00 p.m. / Bossa nova: 8:30 p.m. / Dance lesson: 9:30 p.m. / Batucada Carioca: 10:30 p.m. - midnight. *Canadian time!* Admission: $15, or a $54 dinner & show package which includes Lula Lounge's three-course dinner, the bossa nova set, the samba dance lesson and Batucada Carioca's concert -- and you'll enjoy the show from the best seats in the house! Batucada Carioca will perform songs from the great samba schools of Rio, as well as rhythmic fusions of Brazilian musical styles like frevo, côco, and others.
