“Dance is the movement of the universe concentrated in an individual.” ~ Isadora Duncan Robin Parrish, Co-Founder of Ecstatic Dance LA, is our guest Minister of Music this Sunday! He says, “Lately, I’m exploring the theme of “home” and how one finds this inside of oneself amidst the rollercoaster of the human experience. Musically I’m immersing myself with harmonious melodies that open my heart (and bring me home), percussive rhythms that bring me fire & release, and also playful yummy songs that just make me smile and inspire me to dance my way through it all. The vibration of music brings me so much inspiration and healing. It has a way of bringing cohesion to the seeming chaos in life and lifts my spirit to great heights so that I never forget life is right here and now in all its fullness and glory. To share music for the ecstatic dance floor and weave many different textures, rhythms and tones into a journey that ultimately inspires healing, joy & play - is my highest passion and inspiration. Ecstatic dance for me is a space for healing, freedom of expression, embodiment and connection. It helps me feel more connected to myself and to the world around and allows me the space to move my energy and create art in motion. I see many parallels between the ecstatic dance floor and the larger 'dance floor' of life - the deeper I connect to myself and with others on the dance floor, the deeper this happens in my life. There is also something very beautiful and potent I have witnessed with the community element of the practice that has filled my life with such love, friendship and learning. I’m originally from England and Sweden and now live in LA. I didn’t truly know what tribe of community felt like until I came into contact with Ecstatic Dance a number of years ago. We began Ecstatic Dance LA 6 years ago now and it has transformed my life in so many ways. I’m delighted and excited to join you on the 23rd! Thank you for welcoming me.
