Bio: Emily Jones (she/they) is a dancer, choreographer, movement teacher, and bodyworker based in Portland, OR. Her practice centers on refining intuition through ongoing learning and the exchange of perspectives in collaborative environments. She is committed to clear consent practices and open communication in all spaces of learning and creative exchange.
Emily is part of a long-term artistic collaboration with Hannah Krafcik. Their work spans dance, video, sound, sculpture, and writing, and has been presented nationally. Hannah and Emily also frequently co-teach workshops together. Emily has also performed in works by various other artists in Portland and the Bay Area, most recently with Emma Lutz-Higgins. In Portland, Emily facilitates contact improvisation jams and teaches and performs with the Queer Contact Improvisation Cohort—ara oshin, Hannah Krafcik, Leland Hull, Robin Ekeya, and Quinn Gumbiner. She is a certified Axis Syllabus teacher and offers classes informed by this lens both locally and beyond.
