We are the first and only Queer, Trans, and Ally Salsa/Bachata Dance company in the US. Currently we have over 70 members, 8 performance teams, and 2 training teams. In its first year In Lak’ech has also co-founded and hosted the 1st Annual Queer Latin Dance Festival in Oakland CA. Jahaira Fajardo and Angelica Medina are the Directors of In Lak’ech Dance Academy. In 2014 they met and fell in love on the dance floor and wanted to grow as dance partners. They decided to train for competition, and in December 2015 they placed 1st in the Latin Ladies Same Gender Division, at the World Latin Dance Cup. Jahaira made history as the first Bachata Female Leader to become a World Champion. In 2018, they returned to the World Latin Dance Cup, and placed 1st, in the Same Gender, Bachata Couple Pro, Cabaret División.....becoming World Champions for a second time.
