In Lak'ech Dance Academy is happy to open its doors to New and Returning Members for our Bachata and Salsa Training Teams. ___________________________________________________ Q &A FOR TRAINING TEAMS: 7:00pm- 7:30pm This will be to provide information and opportunities for clarification regarding our 8-Week Training Course beginning January 6th- March 2nd, 2020 at the Orange Room in Oakland, CA. Course Description: Bachata Beginner Training – This course is for individuals who are New to Bachata and have little to no experience and for folks who want to learn the fundamentals of Bachata Technique. In this course, we will also provide teachings on the origins of Bachata and its evolution, as well as the instrumentation and rhythms in Bachata. The goal of this course is to gain and improve Social Dancing technique, timing and partner-work. Salsa On-1 Beginner Training – This course is for individuals who are New to Salsa-On-1 and have little to no experience in this dance. This course will allow for a slow-pace learning environment. The goal of this course is to gain and improve Social Dancing technique, timing and partner-work. Classes will be on Sundays starting January 4, 2020 at the Orange Room, Oakland CA. Bachata Beginner Training 1:00pm - 2:30pm Salsa On-1 Beginner Training 2:30pm - 4:00pm ______________________________________________________ PERFORMANCE TEAM AUDITIONS In Lak'ech is holding auditions for 7 different performance teams. 1) Bachata Student Team: Performance, Partner-work, Choreography 2) Salsa On-2 Student Team: Performance, Partner-work, Choreography 3)Team Bachaterx: Amateur Bachata Leaders' Team (Shines) 4) The Monarchs: Amateur Salsa-on-2/Mambo Team (Shines) 5) Team Kiskeya: Intermediate/Advanced Bachata Performance Team, Partner-work 6) Team Colibri: Amateur Bachata Follows' Team (Shines & Partner-work) 7) Monarchs Competition Team: Advanced Salsa-on-2/Mambo Team, Shines Performance Team Auditions will be Tuesday December 3. Read on: In Lak’ech Dance Academy was founded in August 2017. We are the first and only Queer, Trans, and Ally Salsa/Bachata Dance company in the US. Currently we have over 60 members, 7 performance teams, and 4 training teams. In its first year In Lak’ech has also co-founded and hosted the 1st Annual Queer Latin Dance Festival in Oakland CA. Jahaira Fajardo and Angelica Medina are the Directors of In Lak’ech Dance Academy. In 2014 they met and fell in love on the dance floor and wanted to grow as dance partners. They decided to train for competition, and in December 2015 they placed 1st in the Latin Ladies Same Gender Division, at the World Latin Dance Cup. Jahaira made history as the first Bachata Female Leader to become a World Champion.
