In Lak'ech Dance Academy is happy to announce Auditions for 4 of our Performance Teams. For Our Bachata Program please come at 7:30pm for Auditions - Kiskeya JV (Bachata Amateur) *** New Choreo*** - BachaterX (Leader Bachata Amateur) Choreo by Jahaira For our Salsa Program please come at 8:30pm for Auditions - Borinquen JV (Salsa On-2 Amateur) - Monarchs Amateur (Follower Salsa) Chore by Angelica Course Description: Kiskeya JV Team – This team is for dancers who have had some experience dancing Bachata and would like to perform at different events and festivals. Requirements include Costumes,Travel, and a deeper commitment. [NOTE: This team meets on Thursdays 8:00pm-9:00pm The Orange Room Studios] Borinquen JV Team – This team is for dancers who have had some experience dancing Salsa On-2 and would like to perform at different events and festivals. Requirements include Costumes, Travel, and a deeper commitment. [NOTE: this team meets on Thursdays 10:00pm-11:00pm The Orange Room Studios] Monarchs Amateur Team – This team is for dancers who are interested in FOLLOWER timing and styling. This team will be learning and performing a Salsa/Mambo shines routine. Members of this team will learn advanced footwork and styling for Followers Only. [NOTE: all genders are encouraged to participate] [this team meets on Thursdays 7:00pm-8:00pm The Orange Room Studios] BachaterX Amateur Team – This team is for dancers who are interested in LEADER timing and styling. This team will learn and perform a Bachata shines routine. Members of this team will learn advanced footwork and styling for Leaders Only. [NOTE: all genders are encouraged to participate] this team meets on Mondays 10:00pm-11:00pm Trilliant Studios] Want to learn a little bit more about us...read on: In Lak’ech Dance Academy was founded in August 2017. We are the first and only Queer, Trans, and Ally Salsa/Bachata Dance company in the US. Currently we have over 60 members, 7 performance teams, and 4 training teams. In its first year In Lak’ech has also co-founded and hosted the 1st Annual Queer Latin Dance Festival in Oakland CA. Jahaira Fajardo and Angelica Medina are the Directors of In Lak’ech Dance Academy. In 2014 they met and fell in love on the dance floor and wanted to grow as dance partners. They decided to train for competition, and in December 2015 they place 1st in the Latin Ladies Same Gender Division, at the World Latin Dance Cup.
