In Lak'ech Dance Academy Open Call - Training Teams

In Lak'ech Dance Academy is happy to open its doors to New Members for our Bachata and Salsa On-2 Training Teams. This will be a 10-Week Training Course beginning July 9th thru Sept. 17th (no class Sept. 3rd). For Bachata Open Call come at 7:30pm For Salsa Open Call come at 8:30pm Participants are welcomed to come to both. Course Description: Bachata Beginner Training – This course is for individuals who are New to Bachata and have little to no experience and for folks who want to learn the fundamentals of Bachata Technique. In this course, we will also provide teachings on the origins of Bachata and its evolution, as well as the instrumentation and rhythms in Bachata. The goal of this course is to gain and improve Social Dancing technique, timing and partner-work. Salsa On-2 Beginner Training – This course is for individuals who are New to Salsa-On-2 and have little to no experience in this dance. This course will allow for a slow-pace learning environment. The goal of this course is to gain and improve Social Dancing technique, timing and partner-work. Note: Beginner Training Teams - The Salsa On-2 Beginner Training & Bachata Beginner Training courses are a prerequisite for any and all Performance Teams. Students who qualify may join a Performance Team while simultaneously participating in the Beginner Training Team. Classes will be on Mondays at Trilliant Studios, Oakland CA. Salsa On-2 Beginner Training 7:30pm - 8:45pm Bachata Beginner Training 8:45pm - 10:00pm Want to learn a little bit more about us...read on: In Lak’ech Dance Academy was founded in August 2017. We are the first and only Queer, Trans, and Ally Salsa/Bachata Dance company in the US. Currently we have over 60 members, 7 performance teams, and 4 training teams. In its first year In Lak’ech has also co-founded and hosted the 1st Annual Queer Latin Dance Festival in Oakland CA. Jahaira Fajardo and Angelica Medina are the Directors of In Lak’ech Dance Academy. In 2014 they met and fell in love on the dance floor and wanted to grow as dance partners. They decided to train for competition, and in December 2015 they placed 1st in the Latin Ladies Same Gender Division, at the World Latin Dance Cup.
