The questions arise from how nowadays our society sees dance/dance movements. The impact of the commercial world and Dance reality shows has changed society’s perceptions towards dance/dance movement in the past few years. Now we have a clear distinction between what is dance and what is not dance? Also Dancers/movers from Indian Classical forms, Ballet, bollywood or hip hop have a clear structure of movement - of “What Is WHAT? And what is DANCE?”
However from Prashant's experience, understanding and observation in contemporary dance, whatever action we do, is considered 'MOVEMENT' or 'DANCE'. We are standing still, for example; we are in the process of inhaling and exhaling and that’s movement from our body. And for him that’s "Dance". He have been interested in how the emergence of this way of doing/being changes the way a dancer or performer perceives and responds to action around them, and how this, in turn, creates a charged space, which is perceptible to both the person doing and to those watching.
In Butoh Dancing it says, "It’s not what you express but it's what you experience."
In INHABITING DANCING you will learn about the process of dancing/making. The workshop will provide different frames of work, sequences/tasks/methods through which you will be invited to practice and expand your awareness of what your interests relating to movement or physical performance are, how you make choices and how you navigate your process of work with the transformation of movement and the building of deep dance vocabularies that derives from a conscious stepping out of your comfort zone.
