This workshop will introduce you to the art of channeling life force energy through the urban dance styles of Waving, Tutting, Popping, Animation, and more. Discover how internal martial arts & energy cultivation practices can be used to energize your dance and help you tap into higher flow states. Learn techniques to advance your body control, tools to expand your movement vocabulary, and principles to deepen your dance practice as a path towards self-mastery. This class will be both follow-along instruction and guided improvisational training to help empower your own unique dance expression. Lobo (Adrian Miramontes) is a movement instructor, performance artist, and urban dance innovator. He specializes in the street dance styles of Popping & Animation while also having a background in Yoga, Daoist internal arts, and holistic healing modalities. With his diverse training, Lobo has created a unique system that approaches urban street dance through the lens of eastern philosophy & ancient wisdom traditions. You can RSVP as "Going" to stay connected. ❍ Community Spaces ❍ 7pm-1am The community spaces will include a libation lounge, a healing zone with massage chairs, and a healthy food & beverages bar; hosting a variety of gifted bodyworkers, artisans, and libation tenders. ❍ Movement Space ❍ 7pm-1am* The large movement space will hold a unique class followed by a mindfully curated ecstatic dance & sound healing; carried by wonderful musicians, DJs, and teachers. Please arrive by the specified times if you wish to participate. ♥ ~ What is Ecstatic Dance? ~ Ecstatic Dance empowers people of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds to freely express themselves; the liberating atmosphere creates a melting pot of acceptance and permission to dance without inhibition. Through dance, we believe everyone can discover, explore, unleash, and enhance their individual potential to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. By engaging our senses and listening to our bodies, we connect to others and shape a consciousness that extends beyond our own. ~ Some Loving Guidelines ~ In order to create the ideal container, let's: ~ Allow ourselves freedom from cell phones ~ Let go of judgments of self and others – your dance is your unique expression ~ Connect with our bodies while respecting our “yes” and honoring our “no” ~ Be mindful to the boundaries of others and the space that we share ~ Let our dance be our voice, instead of words, during the ecstatic dance ~ Give our feet back their soul by removing our shoes in the movement space ~ Respect the privacy of the container so that our truest expression can be unlocked Please - ~ No shoes, cell phones, or photography in the movement space ~ Reserve conversations for the community spaces during the ecstatic dance ~ Practice consent - let’s do our best to make this is a safer space ~ Be clear-minded - this is a substance/alcohol-free event :) The event is for ages 18+ (except for special dates) Our goal is to create loving and inclusive events. This will be a safer space for people of all colors, ethnicities, genders, and sexual orientations. Please practice proper consent and be mindful of the friends around you.
