Teaching together with talented Stella-Maria Schletterer. Stella is wonderful dancer, musician and she started recently her path as a dance instructor as well. Workshop Pass (Single Level – 6 hours) + Party…….45,- EUR LEVEL Description Level 1 – for dancers who: - they know the basics: (left side pass, underarm, sugar push, sugar tuck, whip, reverse whip, free spin / spinning pass, starter step) - this level is highly recommended by your instructors even for more advanced dancers Level 2 – for dancers who: - they know the basics (as for Level 1) - they know concepts like rock & go, leading projection but they are not free to use them. - - they know the more advanced variations such as roll in roll out, slingshot, shadow position, sweetheart, telemark but would like to feel more confident incorporating them into own dancing. We ask you to realistictly assess your own capabilities and choose the level accordingly. The material thought during the classes will be tailored for specific level needs. If you are not sure which level to apply, feel free to ask your local teachers. There might an audition incorporated into the process. (Will be annouced separately) TEACHERS Intro: Laszlo Tarkanyi: I started dancing relatively late, after the high school prom, mostly because of the community. I signed up, following a quite generic scheme, for a ballroom course in 2003. This pulled me into the world of dancing I have not known before to an extent that I attended all weekly parties in the following year, with minor exceptions. Later on I was inspired to tap into boogie-woogie by the European Championship runners-up Bohém Boogie team formation. This turned out to be a quite successful trial, as we reached great results in nationwide competitions with my partner, Emőke Horváth (Hungarian Cup 2nd place), we competed together for several years. During the course of my boogie years I had the opportunity to learn the basics of lindy hop, balboa, salsa. Turning towards solo jazzballet classes proved to be yet another significant experience, which formed a solid formal basis for all other genres I was practicing. I was introduced to West Coast Swing in the intensive course by Ádám Balásy and Rita Jóri, in 2009. I am lucky enough to be part of the first and only West Coast Swing team formation, the Swingshot formation. We performed in numerous places all around the country, as well as participated in modern- and showdance with gold qualification and special award. In West Coast Swing I have found what I’ve been unconsciously seeking, a dance that can be done for almost all genres of music. This dance is the modelling of real life for me, where you have to obey some easy basic rules, and you can do, create anything, beyond imagination. Nothing is impossible. I had the opportunity to participate in many international events (French Open, UK&European WCS Championships, BudaFest, Midland Swing, Warsaw Swing, Swingtzerland and many more) where I could learn from the best US and European pros (e.g Jordan Frisbee, Benji Schwimmer, Maxence Martin, Browly Adjavon). In the meantime I started teaching the dance love of my life too. I started with giving private classes to people who trusted me enough in the early times, and also I was asked to substitute teachers in their absence in group classes in different schools. I am teaching regular weekly classes locally, two days a week, giving privates on demand and also closely coaching a few dancers. As time passed by I had the honour to also teach abroad, visit new countries, meeting motivated and motivating students in Ukraine, Czech Republic, Israel, as well as the beautiful and undiscovered Belarus. I am really happy that the Hungarian and European West Coast Swing is growing at a quick pace. It is a joy to be able to spread the word of this beautiful thing, introducing more and more people to the dance of their lives. Stella-Maria Schletterer Music has always been my great passion. When I was 12 I decided to become a professional musician, that was also the time when I started dancing. Originally it was the only sportive activity where I didn’t have to worry to break a finger. But it soon figured out to be more than just a hobby. After 8 years of ballroom dancing, some Salsa and Tango Argentino I accidently fell in love with West Coast Swing. I’ve never felt so close to music while dancing – it literally feels like hearing music with your body. Travelling to festivals all over Europe showed me that not only the dance but also the community is fantastic. Being surrounded by your friends from different countries, sharing amazing dance moments and help each other grow in the dance means a lot to me. As a teacher I try to give my students this kind of support I have experienced and assist them to be the most attentive and confident social dancers they could possibly be.
