Intermediate Call & Response

Dates: May 5, 12, & 19 Lesson Time: 6:30-7:30pm Location: Dance-a-Cross (1970 Grand Ave. #37, West Des Moines, IA 50265) Who: Intermediate dancers. Ability to lead or follow a swing out required. Cost: $45/person for 3-weeks ($35/person with current student ID) Instructors: Cara Held & Matt Tough Pre-registration required at heartlandswing.com/classes In this class, we’ll explore the musicality of call and response patterns in jazz music and dancing. Learn how to listen for repeated riffs and hits in the music and how to play with jazz steps and shapes to emphasize these motifs and increase your connection with your partner and the music. This is an intermediate level class; participants should be comfortable social dancing and leading or following a swing out. Pre-registration required. Registration closes 1 week before the class starts. In the unlikely event that there isn’t enough interest, we will notify you, issue a refund, and reschedule the class for a later date. No refunds unless class is cancelled or rescheduled.
