About this Event
✨ A focused, hands-on training for dancers ready to deepen their practice ✨
This continuation of January’s intensive is designed for intermediate Kizomba dancers who feel comfortable social dancing and are ready to move beyond fundamentals into more refined technique, fluidity, and playful exploration.
This is a small-group, intentional training environment where repetition, experimentation, and feedback support real growth.
This training is a good fit if you:
• Have advanced through several series of Kizomba classes
• Feel totally at ease social dancing for a full evening
• Are comfortable leading or following: circular patterns; contratempo steps (including retrocesso and vírgula); saídas, pivots, openings and closings; combinations without marca
• Have familiarity with: using the shoulders to lead or follow; ginga and banga; full, continuous weight transfers
Placement & Audition Video
To ensure the training truly fits the group, participants will be asked to submit a minimum 90-second improvised video demonstrating:
• Musicality
• Lead/follow technique
• Circular patterns
• Contratempo steps (retrocesso, vírgula)
• At least one type of opening
Please send your video submission directly to Ashby Laine via Facebook or Instagram. If you already participated in Part 1 of this intensive, you do not need to submit another video!
New applicants will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis, provided they meet the level requirements. The earlier you submit, the better.
Video submissions are due by Friday, May 8. Admissions decisions will be made on a rolling basis, with all decisions finalized by Wednesday, May 13. Thanks!
