International Zouk Flash Mob Training (Brisbane) 2016 - Cancelled

The next International Zouk Flash Mob will be held on Saturday 17th September 2016! Brisbane instruction and practice will commence Saturday 16th July. In 2014 Brisbane had the largest group worldwide with 136 participants performing the flash mob routine in front of a massive crowd in South Bank Parklands. I'm hoping that this year we can beat our own record! Everyone is welcome. You do not need to come with a partner (there will be both couples and individuals coming). You will need to partner up by our fourth session, however. Wear comfortable, casual clothes (e.g t-shirt and jeans for guys). Sneakers/joggers for shoes. Please bring your own water. Total beginners are totally welcome. Age doesn't matter. Dance experience doesn't matter. This is a flashmob! It's for fun! Alisson choreographed the routine that launched International Zouk Flash Mob in 2012. His style of Zouk is fluid and compatible with the kind of Zouk that Brisbane dancers enjoy. I'm confident that Brisbane's dancers will love this year's routine! I am a professional instructor but I am making this training as affordable as possible to encourage lots of people to participate. I hope that we can break our 2014 record of 136 people flash mobbing!) This is a flat fee that applies whether you attend all sessions or just one session. New participants will not be accepted after the 4th session except to balance the ratio of men to women*. I am open to suggestions for where we can do our "main" flash mob as well as secondary performances. Let's make this year the best yet! *** Frequently Asked Questions *** Here are some frequently asked questions that I'm receiving: 1. I've never danced Zouk before and I don't know how to do any of those moves! Is this going to be suitable for total beginners? Absolutely. I will break down everything and teach it to you one small piece at a time. For the first time I am also setting aside one session to cover the fundamentals of Zouk for those who are new to Zouk and those who have never danced before. 2. I can't or don't want to book online. Can I pay in cash? Absolutely! Please try to arrive early and our friendly receptionist will give you a registration form and sort out the payment ($70 for the whole 8 weeks of training). Our receptionist has to check-in a lot of people so online payments do help make this as smooth as possible. 3. I'd like to join but I'm going to be away one or more sessions. Is this ok? Totally ok. Realistically, life happens and very few people can make all eight sessions. If you're only missing one or two sessions, then you won't have any problems at all. If you're missing 3 to 4 sessions then you might have to do some homework to catch up. 4. I don't have a partner. Is that an issue? This is not a problem at all. We rotate partners during the first few classes so that you can meet a bunch of people. I will then ask you to lock in a partner. In the past couple of years we have been lucky to start with an almost perfect 1:1 ratio of men to women. 5. How many people are going to be doing this? In 2014 Brisbane had 136 people perform the choreography. It was a blast! Worldwide there were thousands of people performing that same choreography on the same day. I'm hoping that this year we can beat our own record. Brisbane is the Zouk capital of Australia so let's do it! 6. When and where is the flash mob going to occur? Worldwide, the flashmob will happen on Saturday 17th September 2016. In Brisbane, it will happen around lunchtime (approx 1pm). The main performance will be at a busy inner city location to be announced a week before. We often also do a secondary performance at another location, usually within walking distance. I'm really excited about the choreographer this year so let's make Saturday 17th September a day to remember.
