This program bridges two worlds of contact improvisation: precise technique and the expansive space of the jam.
We will explore:
- How can specific technical principles expand the possibilities of your dance rather than just repeating the same memorized movements?
- How can you stop overthinking during dance and become an observer of what is happening?
We will focus on technique: weight sharing, gravity, momentum, counterbalance, and lifts. Afterward, we will dive into the space of the jam, where we will learn to hear the space and manifest ourselves in the moment, applying these principles.
Technique in contact improvisation is a path to a deep understanding of the body and how it works. It involves coordinating all parts of the body, leaving nothing overlooked.
Technique is movement awareness that leads to freedom.
Jam is a performance. It is a sacred space where magic can happen. We will become more sensitive and receptive to the space, where out of stillness and inaction, a shared, total presence emerges.
The idea of coordinating the entire body to work as a unified whole will run through the entire workshop.
We will focus on the technique of falling and beyond. The first essential step is to allow yourself to fall and find joy in it, to embrace the moment of falling and discover resources, energy, and strength for risingโand sometimes for soaring. Drawing from my experience in contemporary dance and contact improvisation, I will share simple yet effective approaches that will teach you how to "fall upwards," becoming both light and strong.
By integrating the peripheryโarms and legsโwith the center, coordinating the body into a single organism, we will move smoothly and fluidly down to the floor and rise into the air in the lifting.
My teaching experience has shown that technique alone is not enough to feel at ease in a jam and to fully immerse yourself in this unique, living, performative space.
This is why we dedicate two hours each day to the practice of mindful presence.
We will explore questions such as:
- What does the space need?
- How can we trust the collective and let go of the personal?
- How can we show up without rushing?
- How can we dance silence and give freedom to our partner?
- How can we reset and be ready for instant changes?
- How does essence crystallize from emptiness?
This workshop is about deepening your connection with the body, movement, and interaction, revealing new dimensions of dance and presence.

Dancer, teacher of contact improvisation and performance. Facilitator of weekly classes and jams. Organizer of festivals, workshops, intensives, and other creative projects.
My focus is on creating and developing the contact improvisation community in Bali. Bringing people together and creating a space for the development of CI is my passion and mission.
Currently, I am inspired by the history of CI. I delve into its origins, analyzing what's happening now, with new trends and proposals in this environment. In addition to CI, my interest and development are focused on techniques: Axis Syllabus Ideokinesis and Gaga.
My first encounter with contact improvisation and a lifelong love happened in 2012. I have studied with teachers such as:
