Jazz in Cowie - An Evening of Live Jazz and Swing

South West Swing is proud to present: Jazz in Cowie - an evening of live jazz and swing to celebrate World Lindy Hop Day. Come along to see the incredible jazz combo, the Local Vintage! This is an event you don't want to miss. The Local Vintage play hard-swinging, old-school jazz and swing classics from the 1930s and 1940s featuring expert local musicians like Mike Weiss on sax, Kevin McDonald on bass, and Sean Lilico on keys. There will be a great swinging selection of jazz new and old. You can expect great tunes through the evening, a wide selection of food and drinks from the club, and plenty of dancing (and even a special dance performance). Come and watch the dancers or join on the big floor underneath the fairy lights. Lindy Hop originated in Black African American Communities of Harlem New York in the 1920s - yet today those of the same community face barriers to participation in the dance and its cultural legacy. Through legacy building exchanges, mentorship facilitation and development, generative residencies, impact focused community building and stewardship they aim to galvanize the cultural core of Lindy Hop.
