Come Closer Zoukers! Jerry Lai is on his way to the YAY Area! Jerry discovered his love for partner dancing through Ballroom competitions and was introduced to Brazilian Zouk in 2015. He began training with Aline Cleto in New York and became a member of her performance team in 2016. Since 2017 he's been teaching at Congresses and Intensives throughout the US and Europe. His top influences include Brenda & Anderson, William & Paloma, Val & Vanessa, and Aline Cleto. He believes social dancing is an effective form of therapy, driven by comfort, relaxation, co-creation and flow. He is currently touring around the world to teach his intensive called "Deconstructing Zouk", a deep technical exploration on the physics and mechanics behind the fluidity of Brazilian Zouk. Deconstructing Zouk so you may reconstruct movements you see from pros or videos yourself. Understanding where their weight is, what direction they are transferring their weight, how the transferring is affecting their frame, and where their hips and torso are relative to each other so you will be able to see different patterns as series of combination that you can break down.
