Jitterbug Jump - Celebrating World Lindy Hop Day

Join us as we celebrate World Lindy Hop Day and the birthday of the legendary Frankie Manning, known as The Ambassador of Swing for his contributions and influence on Lindy Hop! (His actual birthday is Monday, May 26th, but we’re partying early!) This month’s social is all about paying homage to Lindy Hop’s rich African American roots and the incredible legacy of the dancers and musicians who made this dance what it is today. Expect a night filled with music from the Savoy, community spirit, and a few surprises — including a Speed Shim Sham Competition to honour Frankie’s influence. Whether you’ve been dancing for years or just getting started, this is a perfect night to connect with your fellow dancers, practice your moves, and celebrate the joy of Lindy Hop together. 🎵 Music: We will be featuring artists who would have played in Harlem, particularly at the Savoy Ballroom, during the height of the swing era, plus some Rock’n’Roll for our Rock'n'Roll community. 👟 Doors open at 7pm - Taster Class at 7.10pm: A Frankie-inspired beginner-friendly class – no partner or experience needed! We rotate during class so you'll get to meet plenty of friendly faces. 🕗 Social dancing from 8pm: Let’s fill the floor and celebrate the dance that brings us all together. 📍 Location: Arthur Murray Studio – 276 Norton St, Leichhardt 💰 Cost: $20 (includes class + social).
