Jitterbug Jump - Featuring The Radioettes

Jitterbug Jump falls on the ANZAC Day Weekend so we thought we'd honour the ANZAC spirit with some wartime classics with special guest singers The Radioettes! With close harmonies, vintage flair, and wartime classic hits, these lovely ladies will lift your spirits just as The Andrews Sisters did in the 1940's. We would like to acknowledge that this music is representative of American wartime however Australian troops would’ve heard them through radio broadcasts, film appearances, and records distributed across Allied military bases. The Andrews Sisters upbeat songs and patriotic flair made them a favourite among all Allied forces, including Aussies. It’s very likely that their music was part of entertainment programs arranged for Australian soldiers, even if the Sisters weren’t physically there. So while we can’t say they sang directly to Australian troops, their influence and presence were likely felt—and cherished—by the Australian servicemen and women of the era. So at Jitterbug Jump this month expect songs like 🎶 Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy 🎶 Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree 🎶 Straighten up and fly right 🎶 In the Mood … and many more wartime classics! And they have some fabulous remixes of current songs, Postmodern Jukebox styles. Such fun! We'll have a beginner friendly taster class, social dancing, another fun lighthearted competition! Everyone is welcome so please come along and enjoy the fun! Time: 7pm Taster Class (Total beginners welcome & no partner required) 8pm Social dancing 8.45pm Friendly surprise competition Cost: $20 includes class and social (can use your class pass) We will also have a hat to pass around to support the singers if you are able to contribute that would be appreciated.
