Studying and practicing with the Sufi's for over 20 years, Jämi is a visionary producer with an ear for the exotic. He believes that Music, Breath and Movement are the keys to unlocking human potential and returning to the natural frequency of True Love. Jämi has dedicated his life work to the expansion of consciousness. Movement + Love = Freedom A true musicologist, Jämi sources and rides the emergent wave of sonic innovation. His mixes span all genres and tempos of dance music serving up an alchemical elixir of multi-dimensional sound wizardry. Jämi elegantly plays live percussion during his set which uniquely activates the shamanic potential of the dance floor. His beats are a ceremonial carnival of epic proportion. His artistry is truly unique - he is gifted and clearly called to hold some very new and transformational frequencies. Jämi Deva was blessed to be initiated into Ecstatic Dance with his first gig at Big island’s Kalani Sunday Morning eDance in 2010. Launching him on a journey that led him to 5Rhythms at The Moving Center in Sausalito and then to create his own weekly dance. DevaDance first began in Sedona and then moved to Ojai, CA. where it has has been consistently pumping out delicious ecstatic grooves since 2012. “Jämi delivers a sound that is difficult to describe. His classes emphasize cultivating a shared movement platform as a basis for connecting with dance partners while remaining grounded so that you can access spontaneous expression together without merging. He has studied and practiced Contact Improvisation, Aikido, Salsa Dancing, Authentic Movement, Modern and African Dance, Tai Chi, Standing Meditation and Conscious Dance for many decades. His emphasis in teaching Contact Improvisation is 'borrowing weight,' listening to the point of contact and following it wherever it goes. Yoga: Lauren Tierra Lauren’s practice and teaching of contact improvisation is rooted in a lifelong passion for expressive movement. She started as a young child dancing around to the sounds of her Dad’s record collection, then moved on to acrobatics, jazz dance, and musicals. In the early 2000’s she discovered her love of contemporary dance and contact improvisation while studying, performing, and receiving her BA degree at the University of California, San Diego. She has since expanded her practice of dance performance, choreography, and contact improvisation with many renowned teachers and choreographers in the San Francisco Bay Area and Europe, including graduate studies at the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Lauren’s CI teaching draws upon various somatic movement practices such as release technique, axis syllabus, qigong, and her over two decades as a yoga practitioner and teacher. Other spheres of influence include many years of experience with meditation, bodywork, energy work, music & vocal embodiment, Taoist practices/ five element theory, and Ayurveda. Lauren is lit up by guiding herself and others into non-judgmental presence, authentic expression, embodied connection, and holistic well-being. She is especially enamored with contact improvisation for it’s ability to cultivate the spirit of curiosity and play, while also being a transformational healing practice that can expand our awareness, and connection to self and others, in multifaceted and meaningful ways. She often starts her day with a cup of tea. From Puer to herbal teas, she appreciates the medicine of plants. When she sits for her meditation or movement practice, the cup of tea guides her to focus and be present. She has always loved sharing tea with others, during her travels all around the world she had the opportunity and interest to learn about medicinal plants and tea. Recently she has been initiated how to serve puer in a more ceremonial way, she is continuously learning and humbled by the culture of tea in China and Japan. Alessandra loves crafting herbal blends combining medicinal properties in tea, but above all, she is a passionate chocolate maker! Her recent creation, La Gourmande, delicious raw cacao truffles, pair divinely with tea. Both tea herbal blends and cacao truffles are available for purchase.
