Jorge Morales Fundraiser 6 4 16 Salsambo Salsa & Bachata Party

Every first Saturday of the month SALSAMBO hosts a monthly Salsa & Bachata Party hosted at Academy Ballroom. This week we are raising money for Jorge Morales with the help of Academy Ballroom and Sheila Sampath. ---FUNDRAISER IS THIS SATURDAY, June 4th. ** ALL PROCEEDS will be donated to Jorge Morales, the founder of Dance Atlanta International. He's an amazing person, and one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Jorge was admitted to the hospital last week, and just had surgery that will prevent him from working for an extended period of time. At a minimum Jorge will not be able to work for the next 1-2+ months. Once he gets the green light to dance, he will need to start back slowly to avoid any further injury. Professional dance instructors, performers and coaches like Jorge do not earn vacation pay or sick leave. No work means no income. This is obvioulsly not one of the perks of the dance business. Jorge (like many us in this business) gives 100% when teaching, coaching, and performing. If you are a dancer (or friends with a dancer) you know this to be true. Dancers dance when they are injured. They dance when they are sick. They dance when the doctors tell them not to dance...or at least until the pain is to much to bear (and even then, they still try to dance). Dancers do everything possible to keep teaching, training, and rehearsing with a "the show must go on" spirit.... BUT sometimes life gets in the way. Sometimes, life stops you right in your tracks. And with no sick leave there is no income. That's scary and stressful. That's why we need to show compassion & help each other through tough times. Jorge isn't the kind of guy that asks for help....so, we are asking you to help on his behalf. Jorge has supported the Southeast dance scene in Ballroom & Latin dance for over two decades with passion & pure love for dance in his heart. We'd like to show him that the world of dance loves him right back. WE NEED YOUR HELP! For your love of dance and with great compassion in your heart, please help us raise funds to assist Jorge Morales with his loss of income, medical bills, and living expenses. We have also set up a Go Fund Me on his behalf. We will also be collecting money, grocery gift cards, etc untill he is able to return to the dance floor.
