About this Event

Join us for an afternoon of delight with Leny teaching for the first time at the Kizomba Co-Op, those of you who has had the pleasure elsewhere knows you in for a fun and fabulous lesson and afterwards we have none other than DJ David alongside Ian who is sure to keep our feet 💃🕺 happy. Leny O Cassule is an ambitions individual who although sometimes hesitant is not afraid of going after his dreams and goals, as he believes if you do not take control of your own life and objectives you are opening the door for other people to control it for you 😉. Energy, good vibes, knowledge, passion, smoothness, musicality and technical dancing ability. That’s "Leny" for you 💃🏾🕺🏿!! Coming from an Angolan as well as Portuguese culture, "O Cassule" which means "The Last Born" was exposed to African dances (Afro Dance) such as Kizomba, Semba, Kuduro, Afrohouse, Afrobeats among other dances such as Street Dance, Teckno and house music from a very young age. Consequently, dancing and music have been part of his life ever since. Leny attributed the name "O Cassule", as that was how he felt when he went to his first international festival, as a guest in Sardinia Afro Beach Festival 2019 and where he performed on stage his own choreography with the admirable Rico Suave and Adda Dociu. The way he was embraced by all his fellow artists that have been in the Kizomba scene for a very long time including the elders(veterans) from around the world, the words of wisdom, advice, encouragement, experiences & knowledge shared, contributed to that feeling when you are "The Last Born" of the family. Therefore, he felt he had no choice but to add it to his name which became is nickname among his fellow colleagues. After starting his Afro Dance teaching career with the illustrious “GingaBoo” team ran by Sonny Varela in London about 6 years ago, Leny is now based in Sheffield and has his own dance school "Mambos d'Afro: Becoming 1 with Master" in Nottingham which he opened in November 2021 and where he teaches weekly classes on Sundays. Additionally, he is now one of the Co-organiser at LuV'S events which runs "Umbigada Night" monthly and is the organiser of Mambos d'Afro Festival. Furthermore, O Cassule is a regular teacher at Kizomba Leeds and teaches at Dance Revolution Sheffield and Cubana Tapas Bar Restaurant Sheffield on occasion. In addition, Leny is a very passionate and dedicated perfectionist who also teaches and performs at festivals and other events in several places across the UK as well as internationally. Leny O Cassule's main objective is to contribute as much as he can and the best way possible towards a healthier dance scene, where the primarily focus is the sense of community/family, togetherness and enjoyment which in turn leads to people's overall happiness.
