LET'S SEE HOW FAR YOU'LL GO! *** Kizomba is a beautiful partner dance from Portuguese-speaking West Africa that is taking the world by storm. If you want to learn to dance Kizomba, join us weekly. Classes focus on Connection, Musicality, and FUN, all elements of great Social Dancing. Our students learn to dance to ALL styles of Kizomba music, with a strong foundation of basics. Don't forget to bring your friends. This is the Bay Area's ORIGINAL and longest running (5+ yrs) Kizomba program. They have organized numerous Kizomba & Semba IMMERSION™ workshops, and taught workshops and hosted Kizomba at festivals around the world. They are the organizers of the international Got Kizomba festivals which were the first all-Kizomba festivals in North America. Aided by extensive training and dancing with some of the most talented Kizomba artists on the planet, they have developed a style of teaching that is uniquely their own. And, they can't wait to share their passion for Kizomba with you. ********************************************************** ******************SUMMER SESSION******************* *****************CLASS SCHEDULE ***************** ********************************************************** ****MONDAY*** 7p Kizomba 1a || PREREQ: Kizomba Intro Bootcamp which meets periodically throughout the quarter, or teacher permission. Inbox us to find out when next bootcamp is scheduled. || Designed for any skill level. Classes teach musicality, connection, leading&following, and simple combinations, but the focus is on FUN. NO DROP-INS PLEASE. Material from this class is required to move on to higher classes. 8p Kizomba 1b || PREREQ: Kizomba 1a or teacher permission. Should know saidas, basic musicality, and simple combinations || After learning the basics, this class will introduce you to skills including fusion and tarraxinha, and will progress your musicality. 9p Kizomba 1c || PREREQ: Teacher invite or permission || Must know saidas and combinations, and have reasonable musicality, and know Fusion techniques introduced in Kizomba 1a & 1b. If you are missing the Fusion techniques, you can take private lessons to catch up || You will continue to learn more advanced skills, including Fusion, Musicality, and Tarraxinha. ****THURSDAY *** 7:30 Kizomba Skills&Drills || PREREQ: Familiarity with Kizomba basics. This can be satisfied by taking Monday foundational classes, or privates. Do not take this course otherwise || One of the keys to mastering a skill is repetition. This class will take specific techniques and have you drill them, and variations, until you really own it. Drop-ins welcome. 8:30p Kizomba CONNECTION || PREREQ: Familiarity with Kizomba basics. This can be satisfied by attending Monday foundational classes, or privates. Do not take this course otherwise || This class will focus on CONNECTION in Kizomba dancing including Tarraxinha, Body Movement, Leading & Following, and Playful techniques that enhance enjoyment of the dance. Drop-ins welcome. 9:30-11:30p Kizomba Social || PREREQ: None || So you learned some great new moves, or you just finished a great workshop, but how do you really own the dance? You have to dance SOCIALLY as much as possible. Social dancing not only reinforces what you've learned, our socials are a GREAT way to meet other like-minded people. Come make some new friends today! :) ** LOCATION** Lake Merritt Dance @ Oakland’s Veteran Memorial Center 200 Grand Av, Oakland **PRICES (cash, check, and credit card accepted)** +New Students: 30-day unlimited pass for $49 available to new enrollees. Those new to Kizomba are required to take a 2hr $25 Intro Bootcamp. These are scheduled frequently throughout the quarter. +Ongoing Students: Drop-In: $17. DISCOUNTED passes available for multiple classes. Full session and monthly passes are a great deal if you are taking 2 or more classes a week.
