As the co-founder of Konpa Unplugged Nairobi and an international Konpa instructor, she continues to spread the rhythm across borders. Her passion for Konpa radiates through every move as she showcases its beauty and inclusivity proving that dance transcends gender roles and is for everyone to master. She works with students of all levels to ground their dance in authentic body movement, history, musicality and technical skills for leading and following. She was the founder of the first Semba practica in Mali, and she co-founded Konpa Unplugged in Nairobi to promote a wider and deeper understanding of the dance and music. Sharanya has been in the social dance scene for over 20 years, first as a lindy hop, blues and tango dancer in the USA, and then moving to Kizomba, Salsa, Bachata and Konpa. She attended the teacher training course by renowned international Kizomba teacher's trainer Eddy Vents. Sharanya fell in love with Konpa in 2015 when she lived in Port-au-Prince, and trained in konpa with Clifford and Gaëlle Jasmin, learning from the studio and from clubs all around Haiti. She also trained and performed Haitian folklore dance on stage and in carnival. Today, she is on a mission to promote konpa from its rich roots, including the wider family of Haitian music and dance. He has been studying the performing arts for more than 2 decades and boasts expertise in a broad range of dance styles including Modern, Jazz, Tap Dancing, Contemporary, Horton technique, Ballet, African dance, Ballroom, Lindy hop, Salsa, Kizomba among other dances. His true passion has always remained with his ability to convey to others his passion and enthusiasm for music, the performing arts and dance. A natural-born dancer and a lover of creativity, He has played an active part in Nairobi's dance community by consistently provoking new ways to think about dance and movement.
