Krystal and Adam Wilkerson Teach Phrasing & Improvisation at Back Room Blues! (2025-6-4)

You loved their classes last time around, and they're back! Adam and Krystal Wilkerson return to the Back Room to teach intermediate and beginner blues dancing classes. The topic for both lessons will be Phrasing and Improvisation: In this class, we'll dance through some phrasing exercises by setting up some move sequences involving different partner orientations. We'll use these to make space for improvisation with a set start and end point, and work together to fill in the blanks using both the tools you already have and some new ones we'll bring along! Krystal & Adam are known for their dynamic connection, musicality, and passion for blues dancing. They blend playfulness, technique, and a deep respect for the dance, the music and their roots. In class, they mix clear technique with lots of laughter, encouraging dancers to experiment, express, and just have fun. Whether they’re teaching at home in Huntsville, AL or across the globe, they’re all about sharing the magic of blues dance, and building a community that moves together. Intermediate lesson 7–8pm ($25 at the door, no pre-registration) Beginner-friendly lesson 8:15–9pm ($10 at the door, no pre-registration) Paying for either class gets you into the dance for free! Cash or card at the door. 9pm–11:30pm Blues Dance ($10 entry or free with class) No partner or prior experience is required! If you can, wear shoes that can slide. Please avoid wearing strong fragrances. Most people come to dance with everyone there (but if you'd prefer to stick with one person that's okay too).
