This stunning Art-Deco ballroom with a terrace on het Ij has build a name, a name that stands for the best swing jazz in town and we all know it!✨ In a beautiful art-deco venue, you will get served the best Cocktails or Mocktails, get inspired by our JAZZ music and a huge dancefloor is waiting for you, so that the music can make your body move. 🪩 About The Compass Ballroom Stompers: After their first show at a Lindy Hop night in the Kompaszaal in 2015, the band quickly found its name: the Compass Ballroom Stompers. Since then, they’ve become a regular on the Lindy Hop scene. Their swinging jazz gets dancers moving, and that energy feeds right back into the music. The Compass Ballroom Stompers play tight swing from the 1950s. Many of the themes we play are slightly different: they are alternative melodies based on the chord progressions of standards from the Great American Songbook, known as contrafacts. Led by guitarist Matthijs Driessen, the group features tenor saxophonist Dano Roelvink, vibraphonist Bendert Zevenbergen, bassist Leo Verbree, and drummer Hugo Jonker.
