Barriers of gender, race, class, sexual orientation, age and finance have frequently limited who is visible, who can access, who can participate, and what roles are available to those who do participate. 🪬 We are working to break down these barriers by creating different ways in which the public can engage in an inclusive tango experience. This includes but is not limited to: learning to dance tango in whatever role pleases each person, experiencing tango music from an all-female tango orchestra, participating in community conversations, lectures, and social events, and discovering what tango culture can mean to each and every one of us in an environment designed to foster inclusion and belonging. 🦄 Our programming will be facilitated by a diverse cast of artists, musicians and facilitators whose contribution to the culture of tango have often been disregarded because of their gender or race. Their presence and visibility in this festival will allow participants to envision themselves as part of this culture and movement.
