La Raíz - Second Friday Latin Social ft. Reparto Class by Aja

Join us on Friday, January 9, for our monthly social—La Raíz! This event welcomes all styles of dancers to come enjoy some of their favorite music from the birthplaces of what we know as salsa and bachata today—Cuba and the Dominican Republic! Here's what you can expect this month: -Take a free reparto class with Aja at 9:30 PM! -Enjoy your favorite Dominican & Cuban music til 1:00 AM+ with DJ Cokie! (Bachata, merengue, timba, Dominican & Cuban salsa + a splash of reparto) -Must be 18+ to enter. -$13 in advance on our website, or $15-16 at the door. About your instructor Aja: "Born & raised in North Carolina and influenced by my African and Caribbean heritage, I have 7+ years of experience in various dance styles. While my primary focus is in African Street Styles, I carry a deep love for Latin and Hip Hop styles as well. I’m excited to share the energy, musicality, and expression of reparto with you!" “Reparto is music for people to have fun and dance. Reparto is rooted in timba, a classic Cuban sound that exploded in the Nineties and fuses Cuban son, salsa, funk, Afro-Cuban music, and jazz into an improvisational hybrid.
