About this Event

We're back with 2 special guests for our June edition of La Rumba Buena! Lady Son makes her DJ debut at La Rumba Buena! Often drawing comparisons to music legend Celia Cruz and Cesaria Evora, her 2009 debut album, “Semillas”, received the New Music Award for Best World Album! She has shared the stage with the likes of international artists/bands such as: Oscar D’leon(Venezuela), Los Van Van(Cuba), Alfredo de La fe,(New York) Jesus "El Nino" Rivera (Cuba), Ricardo Lemvo of Maquina Loca,Voo doo Souljahs,Las Krudas (CUBENSI) (Colombia),TOTO of Los Munequitos De Matanzas, and has opened for Pupy Y Los Que Son Son. Come and hear her play her first ever DJ set of all Latin vinyl! Juana Go-gó, straight from the salsatecas of Cali, first fell in love with the engaging patterns of salsa at a young age as a dancer in her hometown of Cali, Colombia. Juana began to develop a distinct appreciation for the music on vinyl, allowing her to explore the vibrant textures and colours the broad spectrum of Latin Jazz induces both on and off the dance-floor. La Rumba Buena just means a great party and ‘Rumber@s’ are people who love to dance. Expect to hear Salsa, Boogaloo, Cumbia, Guaguanco, Son, Rumba, Descargas, Mambo, Cha-Cha-Cha, Bomba, and Plena from the resident DJs. With a stack of vinyl collected over a decade from across the Americas, DJs Blancon and Drumspeak play out the sounds from the Latin Diaspora and bring La Rumba Buena to Toronto.
