About this Event
La Rumba Buena is super excited to welcome NYC native and world-renowned DJ Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love!
Whether you know him from his legendary radio show with Stretch Armstrong, his column in VIBE magazine, or his award-winning documentaries — he is a man of many talents.
His love for Latin music started at a young age. His father was a Latin jazz musician who once opened up for Tito Puente, while his mother was the hairdresser for Fania All Star singer Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez. Steeped in the culture, Bobbito went on to co-found the world's first officially endorsed Fania Records DJ tribute event in 2008, and has spun for the label multiple times since. He’s also opened up for The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Los Van Van, Tato Torres y Yerba Buena, and a Rumba Buena favourite — Eddie Palmieri.
Let’s show Bobbito some Rumba love!
La Rumba Buena is a night dedicated to classic Latin sounds inspired by the salsatecas in Cali, Havana, and New York. No frills, pure vibes, and a non-stop dance floor open to anyone who catches the rhythm.
La Rumba Buena just means a great party and ‘Rumber@s’ are people who love to dance. Expect to hear Salsa, Boogaloo, Cumbia, Guaguanco, Son, Rumba, Descargas, Mambo, Cha-Cha-Cha, Bomba, and Plena from the resident DJs. With a stack of vinyl collected over a decade from across the Americas, DJs Blancon and Drumspeak play out the sounds from the Latin Diaspora and bring La Rumba Buena to Toronto.
