First, Happy Pride Month to all of our LGBTQ+ loved ones! As this is the big weekend of marches come on by after! This week’s Sidewalk Jam pairs two bold and incredibly talented women charting paths in traditionally male-dominated fields: Cuban Rumba and the Culinary Arts. FREE! Suggested donation $10 MUSIC Grammy Nominee Melvis Santa from Habana, Cuba, presents La Rumba de Santa, four piece ensemble @melvissanta. On lead vocals, clave, shakere and moving between the sidewalk stage and onto the baby grand inside, she will be joined by Maximo Gustavo, Rafael Monteagudo and Dylan Blanchard. Ai na ma 🔥🔥💃🏼 FOOD Food Brujita, Romina Urueña, is @selva_madre_ny a creative food project via Texas, New Orleans and Argentina, creating beautiful plates based on donated farm ingredients from local rooftop garden @brooklyngrange via our neighbors. Thank you!! She’ll be grilling magic in the side garden. Plates by donation. @djtresdos will be sending us spinning between sets. His musical breadth and depth never fails to surprise and amaze us, though Im sure he won’t mind indulging my frequent Timba requests 😘 Casineros see you there! And then…we’re trying something NU! Literally. @nuafricafoundation, our dear neighbors down the block, are setting up a Pop Up Gallery inside the Salon. Fine Art on view and for sale. We’d love to make this a regular thing, creating new platforms for engagement with emerging visual artists. Joining with her beautiful photography will be @carlaeyeball.
