The dance has developed, for a long time it was called Lambazouk, now the trend is to use the original name Lambada for its modern form again. Apart from the energy, for me, Guido, one of 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 about Lambada is that it uses a 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 / 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 (which you need to learn and understand), where the 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 depending on the leading or 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 subtle leading by positioning their own body up to 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 even if the leader 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 or just gives 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗮 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝗻𝘁 actively with his 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 / 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 even 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 / without touching the follower (called 𝗪𝗶𝗙𝗶). It is always clear 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 to 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻, when to add a 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻, to 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 to turn, 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 (in this very moment). Also the possibility to 𝗺𝗶𝘅 𝗭𝗼𝘂𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 is super 𝗳𝘂𝗻. On one of my dance study trips to Brazil I recorded the following video in the most famous Lambada & Zouk studio (“3D”) in Sao Paulo with the most wanted Lambada artists out there nowadays. Watching it live was even more energizing and mesmerizing, but also watching “only” the video 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗽 the beat. Has been dancing Lambada and Carimbó since a little child. At 17 years-old, moved to Fortaleza, where she began her formal studies in couple dances in general, focusing on Lambada, Brazilian Zouk, and Kizomba, already boasting +12 years of experience. Has taught Kizomba and Semba in workshops and festivals in Brazil. Completed two professional trainings in Kizomba and Semba with Angolan masters. Was a member of the dance groups Lambada Fortaleza and Ruana Zouk Team. Was part of the organizing team for both editions of the African Day Festival in Ceará, Brazil. She is a member of the Academic-Cultural Study Group in Lambada (GREAC). Has been living in Budapest, Hungary, for almost 4 years, where she taught group and private Lambada classes, aiming to develop the community and perpetuate the Lambada culture. Participated into events in Europe, studying and dancing a choreography with the Zouk Sensation group. She is an official judge of the Lambada World Dance Council. She is constantly studying and developing as a dancer and teacher. Currently, focusing her studies on the paths from Carimbó and Brega to Lambada. 💃🏽 𝑮𝒖𝒊𝒅𝒐 𝑨𝒔𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒏𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒓 is an international dance instructor, Vienna’s first Zouk teacher, and one of Europe’s most active ambassadors of Brazilian Zouk and Lambada. Starting his dance journey with ballroom at 16, he soon embraced Latin styles such as Salsa and Bachata before falling in love with Brazilian Zouk in 2010—at a time when Zouk and Lambada were still closely intertwined. From the beginning, Guido’s Zouk carried the essence of Lambada, fueling his long-standing curiosity for its history, roots, and culture. Over the years, Guido has trained extensively with leading Zouk and Lambada masters in Europe and Brazil, including countless private lessons, teacher trainings, and congress immersions. His Lambada path has taken him weekly to Brno for advanced “Lambamania” classes, private training with Michal Chromcak, and intensive studies with renowned artists such as Brjan & Kasia, Mateusz & Lydia, and many more. A turning point came with the Lambada Mastery program by Ariel & Letícia in Poland, which deepened his understanding of the dance’s structure and logic—where he also began competing in Lambada Jack & Jill, lately earning 3rd place at the Berlin Lambada Festival in 2024. Guido has participated in all major Lambada congresses in Europe and several in Brazil, reconnecting with the dance’s cultural roots. In 2024, he made history by organizing the first-ever Lambada marathon in Europe—likely the first in the world—bringing together dancers and artists for a pure social dance experience. Drawing on more than a decade of teaching experience, Guido combines deep technical knowledge with an intuitive focus on connection, musicality, and body awareness. His classes blend precision with playfulness, building strong fundamentals that allow dancers to enjoy the “crazy stuff” later.
