About this Event
Landing - Unfurling - Crafting
In this workshop, we will examine the relationship between anatomical study and artistic impulse. We will work with our bones as a site of learning, articulation, and transformation. We will investigate the mechanisms of breath, offering tools for ease and expression. We will work with nuance and detail in our anatomy as a way to more deeply understand variation and difference.
Participants will be invited into movement patterns that include rolling, crawling, and jumping, alongside opportunities to craft movement material from their own impulses and curiosities. We will explore how the forms we practice can be adapted to the unique shape and history of our own bones and breath.
This offering draws from Emily and Jen’s unique perspectives as well as their shared engagement with the Axis Syllabus. This workshop is crafted by our shared practices: contact improvisation, dance phrases and work with rhythm and musicality.
