Latin Motion - Fundraising Event

We have decided to host our next Latin Motion as a fundraising event to help raise funds for Pilo and Ila Ria’s challenging times and for Pilo’s brother. Pilo's brother, Yohanny who in July last year lost sight in one eye which then progressed to bilateral blindness due to a complication of his diabetes. This could have been PREVENTED but due to the dire situation in Cuba with lack of essential medications and good healthy, food - his sugars and blood pressure were out of control. He has been unable to walk unaided, work or look after his family. Pilo and Ila Ria managed to get him to Spain to see a specialist and he has since been operated on and regained some sight in both eyes. The medical bills are over 20,100 euros (approx. $33,000) but no treatment would have meant losing all of his sight and the worst life-changing, impact, not only for Yohanny but also, for his children and family if he can no longer work. Recently Ila Ria received devasting news of being diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing treatment and has had to cut back work to minimal hours. On top of that Pilo’s mum had suddenly passed away and he had to fly both himself and Yohanny from Spain back to Cuba for the funeral. And then Yohanny will need to be flown back to Spain to continue his treatment. We hope the dance community will get behind this event to help Pilo, Ila Ria and Yohanny.
