It is our first anniversary! Come and celebrate an amazing year of music, dancing & amazing performances at LatinMania. Enjoy the diverse sounds of old & new from our fantastic DJs, DJ Haihan Ht & DJ Yuma aka Kevin Aubry! A huge dance floor is awaiting you! WHEN: Feb 1 Saturday 9.30pm - 1.30am Entry $10 MUSIC: Salsa 60% Bachata 40% BASIC SALSA RHYTHMS WORKSHOP 8.30PM ($10) Have you ever been curious or confused by complex rhythms in the salsa music you love? Or have you always wanted to know more about salsa music but didn't know where to start? You've seen resident LatinMania DJs Yuma and Haihan on instruments adding to the music - now let them share some of what they know! Beginning with a basic percussion rhythm, Yuma and Haihan will show you how more rhythms can be layered on top, to let you understand polyrhythms that form the core of salsa music. This will all be live instrumentation with Congas, Maracas, Guiro, Cowbell and Clave. Get ready for some fun audience participation while you learn! Finally, Yuma and Haihan will share some tips on how to accent your movements according to the different rhythms. DJs Yuma and Haihan are musician-DJs - DJ Haihan was a long-term guitarist and vocalist, and now plays various latin hand percussion instruments, while DJ Yuma had experience on piano and is now learning various latin percussion instruments for several years - this sets them apart in terms of their musical expression on DJ decks.
