Learn Bachata with Matt & Amie!

Hi everyone! Come join us every Thursday from 7pm-8pm at Symbolic Dance and Fitness in San Francisco for a fun and challenging bachata class! The cost will be $12/class or 3 classes for $30. $8 if you're a student, just bring your ID! Cash Only Please! ;) We're excited to reach and work with those who might be new to bachata, and unsure where to start. We definitely know what that's like! If you're someone who might have dabbled in bachata, stopped, and ready to jump back in, consider joining us. Maybe you love the music, and want to build on your experience and practice on how to express in movement to the music. All levels are more than welcome and no partner is required. We hope to share our experience and built knowledge over time on musicality, fundamentals, and connection (with our own body and movement, and with partners). Our class will reference Traditional (Dominican) / Modern Fusion music and pattern work. Each class will have a similar set-up, but will not directly build on earlier classes, so feel free to drop in any of the Thursday classes. ::MORE ABOUT US:: Matt has been teaching a class for SF City employees for 2 1/2 years and has recently created a Dominican Bachata choreography from scratch for the Reno Latin Dance Festival. From no professional dance background and/or experience, Matt took initiative in paving his dance journey through private lessons, various classes, joining (and eventually co-directing) Sabor Latino Dance Co. Something special about Matt is his dedication to building on what he already knows in bachata, but other dance forms. In more cases than not, you can find him meticulously practicing new moves he's just learned, or honing his basics because of his genuine passion for bachata and sharing the dance with others. Amie was introduced to bachata in 2014 and basically became obsessed ever since. For someone that grew up never dancing, and scared to flaunt a move anywhere outside of the shower, she was amazed at how her body took to the music and went on social dancing as often as she could to learn more about this new fascination. Since then, she has taught classes with friends and family, where she's learned the intricacies of teaching folks with very little context to the dance world. Amie has a love for movement, and loves findings ways to express ourselves through music. You can find her studying different dance disciplines like hip-hop, pachanga, and modern dance, and honing her basics and fundamentals.
