Event Series

Learn the BIG APPLE
This event is part of a series.

About this Event

Join us for two Saturday mornings (August 29th and September 5th) to learn the Big Apple Contest! In these two x 2-hr workshops, Jethro will be teaching the full SOLO JAZZ routine, just in time for Boogie Down South so you can join in on all the chaos. Two hrs each will give us enough time to dive into the moves at a reasonable pace. This is the last of the "big three" solo jazz routines (Shim Sham, Tranky Doo, and the Big Apple). The Big Apple is a medium difficulty solo jazz routine, originally choreographed by legendary Lindy Hopper, Frankie Manning in the late 1930s. Originally part of a larger dance craze at the time (also called the Big Apple) where dance moves were called by a leader and danced in a circle, the Big Apple Contest is now recognised as one of the main solo jazz routines and a must for every Lindy Hopper's repertoire. Around the world, as soon as the "Big Apple Contest" begins to play, dancers rush to the floor for the routine. It's high energy, a little chaotic, and super fun. Dates: Saturdays August 29th and September 5th Times: 11am - 1pm Where: TBD Cost: $15 Please RSVP so we can book an appropriate sized space for all the workshop goodness
