Tango ) LIMITLESS / COUPLES & TEAMS (Physically & Mentally Challenged Dancers) This division is designed for physically & mentally challenged dancers. We will see that music and Latin dance is Limitless. One or both of the dancers / half of the team needs to be physically or mentally challenged. One of the dancers / half of the team are allowed to not be physically or mentally challenged. Each couple or team will perform a routine no less than 1.5 minutes and no longer than 2 minutes. Acrobatics are allowed. Tricks, cartwheels and aerials are permitted. This will be at the discretion of the judges. Up to 5 lifts or tricks allowed. RULES & CONDITIONS OF WLDC QUALIFYERS: DEFINITIONS PROFESSIONAL Each couple or team will perform a routine no less than 1.5 minutes and no longer than 2 minutes. Any individual who has or is receiving financial compensation for teaching or performing in salsa or Latin dances. If teaching in other genre like ballet or jazz, hip hop etc but not teaching salsa or latin dance, they will not be considered a professional for the WLDC. AMATEUR Any individual that enjoys all forms of dance as a hobby and has not and does not earn a living in the salsa or Latin dance industry. You cannot be considered an Amateur if you have been paid for performing or teaching in the past in the Salsa World. This final decision is made by the Producer of the event. Cannot be an Amateur and dance on a Pro Division. Each couple will perform a routine no less than 1.5 minutes and no longer than 2 minutes. NO ACROBATICS / LIFTS WILL BE PERMITTED. A lift is considered when any of the two dancers both feet are off the ground at the same time and any part of their bodies are touching each other. Tricks / Up to 5 tricks with at least one foot always on the floor is allowed. Tricks are any steps or position that partners cannot execute without the assistance of their partner. BACHATA AMATEUR COUPLE This division is judged on choreographed performances. Shines are permitted. Performance must be 70% Bachata. Performances must maintain a consistency in their timing for the duration of the performance. Lifts, cartwheels or any similar lifts are not allowed. This will be at the discretion of the judges. Up to 5 tricks with at least one foot always on the floor is allowed. Tricks are any step or position that partner cannot execute without the assistance of their partner. SALSA ON 1 AMATEUR COUPLE This is an amateur couple partnership. This division is judged on choreographed performances. Performances need to be On 1 and must maintain a consistency in their timing for the duration of the performance. No lifts, cartwheels and aerials are permitted This will be at the discretion of the judges. Up to 5 tricks with at least one foot always on the floor is allowed. Tricks are any step or position that partner cannot execute without the assistance of their partner. SALSA ON 2 AMATEUR COUPLE This is an amateur couple partnership. This division is judged on choreographed performances. Performances need to be On 2 and must maintain a consistency in their timing for the duration of the performance. No lifts, cartwheels and aerials are permitted This will be at the discretion of the judges. Up to 5 tricks with at least one foot always on the floor is allowed. Tricks are any step or position that partner cannot execute without the assistance of their partner. SALSA AMATEUR TEAM On 1 or On 2 This is an amateur team partnership. Defined as a team of 5 to 20 dancers. This division is judged on choreographed performances. Shines are permitted. Performance must be 70% Salsa. Performances can be On 1 or On 2 but must maintain a consistency in their timing, synchronization, formations and presentation for the duration of the performance. No lifts, cartwheels and aerials are permitted. This will be at the discretion of the judges. Up to 5 tricks with at least one foot always on the floor is allowed. Tricks are any step or position that partner cannot execute without the assistance of their partner. PRO – AM One Professional Dancer dancing with One Amateur Dancer to form a partnership. JUNIORS Any individual between the ages of 12 and 17 years old. CHILDREN Any individual between the ages of 3 and 11 years old. ROUNDS Each round, be it semi final round or final round is considered a fresh start for the competitors. The order of the performances will be based on the score of the previous round. With the lowest scored competitors performing first and the highest score performing last. Example: All dancers qualifying for the finals will not bring their semi final score to the finals. All dancers will start fresh in the next round. The best soloist, couple or team during the finals will be the winner. GENERAL RULES Dancers in ALL divisions will dance to routines they have choreographed, music does not need to be from approved song list. Dancers competing in MIAMI WORLD LATIN DANCE CUP need to use music from approved song list. Solo division dancers will perform a routine no less that 1 minute and no longer than 1.5 minutes. Each couple or team will perform a routine no less than 1.5 minutes and no longer than 2 minutes. Couple and Team divisions will have points deducted after two minutes and five seconds and will be disqualified with no refunds if routine goes over 2 minutes & 15 seconds. Timing begins from the moment music starts. No speaking intro allowed as mentioning dancers names or dance school or anything similar. If this occurs points will be deducted. No bowing music allowed. This will count towards your allowed time. All dancers will be expected to be prepared to perform a choreographed routine in the time given each division. All dancers of ALL divisions are required to bring their own 1.5 minute or two minute (depending on division) pre recorded music on a CD format. The following are IMPORTANT POINTS : ALL music needs to be on their own CD. ONE SONG PER CD (Even If It’s the Same Song). Music will only be accepted on a CD format. Lets be really clear!. Music will NOT be accepted If Not On A CD Format. No IPods, No IPads, No MP3 / NADA. ONLY CD FORMAT! All CDs need to be at the speed the dancers need it played. Our staff and DJs have hundreds of CDs and will not be allowed per the producer to play your CD faster or slower than it was recorded. On the CD in black magic marker we need clearly written the following, Competition Number, Name Of Dancers or Team, Name of Song, Name of Artist and if possible name of label. No CD will be accepted without this information. NO routine previously performed in past years at the World Salsa Championships or World Latin Dance Cup will be allowed to be used again. No changing of partners can occur after you have entered the qualifying rounds. It is recommended that all competitors should stay at the Competition Hotel or the other overflow hotels since there could be changes to the program based on the amount of entries. We will need your hotel and room number upon registering with us so we can reach you and keep you informed. We will do our best to keep you informed, but it is YOUR responsibility to stay informed of any changes. All changes will be updated on the Facebook Page of LEABNON LATIN FESTIVAL QUALIFICATIONS. LIKE this page and stay updated. If we are unable to inform you of any changes and you are missing in action or late, we regret to inform you that your partner and you or your team will be disqualified with no refund. (No Exceptions). We will not accept ANYONE being late for meetings, rehearsals or competition time. If someone is missing from your team or partnership, judges will be notified with a warning but also points can be deducted or you can even be disqualified. World Latin Dance Cup reserves the right for ANY photography or filming to be permitted during the full event including qualifiers, semi finals and finals of the WLDC. All photography and filming are property of WLDC & Albert Torres Productions, Inc. ALL competitors consent to release the use of their photographs, biographies and names, for ANY video or television footage for sale. All of this is property of WLDC & Albert Torres Productions, Inc. The event will be recorded on film, video and photography. These may be used for WLDC promotional purposes and marketing without any obligation. WLDC reserves the right to change the program and competition if necessary without consultation. WLDC will not accept responsibility for loss or injury to persons or loss of possessions in relation to this event. There will be NO refunds for dancers that pull out of this event or are disqualified. COMPETITION DIVISIONS PROFESSIONAL DIVISIONS SALSA ON 1 / Couples / NON CABARET This is a Pro Couple Partnership. No lifts, cartwheels, aerials, or any similar lifts are permitted. Performances must be 70% recognizable Salsa. This division is judged on choreographed performances. Emphasis will be on the downbeat (the 1st beat of the phrase). Timing must be maintained consistently throughout the performance. Up To 5 Tricks With At Least One Foot Always On The Floor Is Allowed. Tricks are any step or position that partner cannot execute without the assistance of their partner. SALSA ON 2 / Couples / NON CABARET This is a Pro Couple Partnership. No lifts, cartwheels, aerials, or any similar lifts are permitted. Performances must be 70% recognizable Salsa. This division is judged on choreographed performances. Emphasis will be on the up beat (the 2nd beat of the phrase). Timing must be maintained consistently throughout the performance. Up To 5 Tricks With At Least One Foot Always On The Floor Is Allowed. Tricks are any step or position that partner cannot execute without the assistance of their partner. SALSA / Couples / CABARET This is a Pro Couple Partnership. This division is judged on choreographed performances. Performances can be On 1 or On 2 but must maintain a consistency in their timing for the duration of the performance. Also 50% of the performance needs to be dancing. Points will be deducted if over 50% of the performance is Cabaret and if any lifts / tricks are not executed correctly. This will be at the discretion of the judges. BACHATA Couples / NON CABARET This is a Pro Couple Partnership.This division is judged on choreographed performances. Shines are permitted. Performance must be 90% Bachata. Performances must maintain a consistency in their timing for the duration of the performance. Lifts, cartwheels are not allowed. Up To 5 Tricks With At Least One Foot Always On The Floor Is Allowed. Tricks are any step or position that partner cannot execute without the assistance of their partner. KYZOMBA COUPLE PRO THIS A COUPLE PARTNERSHIP MIX VARIOUS TYPES OF KIZOMBA (Slow, Fast, Tarraxinha) during the 2 minutes that are allocated to them or use one song. Maximum length is 2 minutes. Dancers in this division will be evaluated according to the following criteria : - Technical : mastery and execution of movements. - Creativity and originality : Use of new or different movements in the choreography. - Rhythm and interpretation : Definition and consistent use of timing during the execution of the dance and fluidity of body movements. = Visual presentation : Couple aesthetics (hairstyle, costume, makeup, etc.). Choreography : Capacity of improvisation evolution of the dance, complexity, movements symchronised to the music. Performances must maintain a consistency in their timing, synchronisation, formation and pesentation for the duration of the performance. Lifts, catwheels or any similar lifts or tricks are allowed. Cabaret is allowed. SOLOIST MAN This is a Male Solo Pro Division & Amateur Division. Emphasis will be on timing, technique, choreography, musical interpretation, performance. SOLOIST LADY This is a Ladies Solo Pro Division & Amateur Division. Emphasis will be on timing, technique, choreography, musical interpretation, performance. TANGO COUPLE TANGO ON STAGE The particular vision may take place where each may interpret of the dance in tango. Understanding this that it will be permitted to use movements, figures and applications that do not have to do with the traditional tango. The hugs may be broken and use techniques that are used with other disciplines in dancing permitted when having reason of being and in benefit of the presentation of the individual who is trying to conserve the essence of tango without complete distortion It is permitted that one of the members as a couple be of the age of 13 years old to participate in the professional categories. Also important to remember this is a professional category. It is not permitted the use of items as: canes, chairs, or any element that is Not part of the costume. Duration of the music should a maximum of 2:00 minutes and not less than 1:30 minutes. The music should be given before the closing of the Registration, In MP3 Format with the following information: Name of the category Names of the couple Name of the song & interpreter or Composer It will only be permitted tango music. The song may not have any type of special effects nor any other musical gender. In this division you can pick the Tango music of your choice. What To Be Expected To Qualify Stage presentation and visual presentation: The dancers character on stage. Aesthetic entirely of the couple (hair, costume, makeup, etc.). Technique of Tango: Knowledge and technical executions in the movements of tango upon the decision of the Judges. Technique of Danza: Knowledge and technical executions in the movements positions or elements of other skills introduced in the choreography. Musical Interpretation: Timing used to execute the dance and the form in which the song's interpretation. Choreography: Development and evolution of the routine, its complex, movements and synchronization of all. This category will be opened with a minimum of 3 couples registered. The top 3 finalist will obtain trophies and metals not mattering the amount of people CHILDREN & JUNIOR DIVISIONS SALSA CHILDREN Couples / 3 - 11 Years Old Defined as a couple who are between the ages of 3 years old and 12 years old. This division is judged on choreographed performances. Performances can be On 1 or On 2 but must maintain a consistency in their timing for the duration of the performance. Lifts, tricks, cartwheels and aerials are permitted. This will be at the discretion of the judges. Up to 5 lifts or tricks allowed. SALSA JUNIORS Couples / 12-17 Years Old Defined as a couple who are between the ages of 10 years old and 16 years old. This division is judged on choreographed performances. Performances can be On 1 or On 2 but must maintain a consistency in their timing for the duration of the performance. Lifts, tricks, cartwheels and aerials are permitted. This will be at the discretion of the judges. Up to 5 lifts or tricks allowed. PRO AM DIVISIONS SALSA OR BACHATA Pro – Am is a division where amateur students partner with a professional dancer. In this division only the amateur is judged. Competitors must be at least 15 years old. Pro dancers are allowed to dance with up to 5 different amateur students, however each partner must have a different routine with different pre approved music. The dance content in this division can be Salsa, Bachata. No lifts are allowed. Up To 5 Tricks With At Least One Foot Always On The Floor Is Allowed. Tricks are any step or position that partner cannot execute without the assistance of their partner. TANGO PRO AM TANGO SALON PRO AM Execution and interpretation socially of the dance of tango, in the form improvised. This nature integrates a professional participant and a amateur, this means a professor or professional dancer in tango may participate with a student. The couple will not separate while the music is playing. This means the hug will not be broken, considered as the position of danza in tango. So that the position is considered correct, the body of one as a couple should be hold, always, by the hug, understanding that in determined figures, this can be elastic but not in the complete duration of the danza. Under these parameters of observation, it may be performed all the figures that are used popular. It is completely not allowed to use hangers, jumps, climbs, tricks and any other possible choreography proper of tango on stage. Any step in where the feet go above the height of the knees is not permitted. The Judges will have in mind as fundamental points of the qualification the following: the hug, the style used and especially the musicality. The minimum age to participate is of 13 years old. Each professor of tango may participate in this category with a maximum of five students, but each one must have different music and different choreography. Note: This category will be divided in two groups. When the professor is a male and when the professor is a female, the awards will be given separately. Note 2: This category will be opened with a minimum of three couples registered. The 3 top finalist in each category will obtain trophies and metals without mattering the amount of people registered. BASIC INFORMATION All competitors must check in with registration to update their entry forms or take care of remaining balance or pick up their competition number and supply us with their hotel info. All competitors No Exceptions) need to sign a Liability Waiver. All competitors who have a full pass need to pay a fee of 30$ per dancer for each division they decide to compete in. All competitors can enter and compete in as many divisions they choose to as long as they qualify for the division and pay the appropiate fees. Anyone late or missing their scheduled meetings or rehearsal time for ANY reason will be warned or disqualified at the discretion of the producer and or judges. No CD will be accepted with intro of dance team or competitors names, etc…as part of the recording during their performance. No competitors routines can exceed two minutes except for the solo divisions which cannot exceed 1.5 minutes (90 seconds). No choreography used in previous years can be used again. No amateur dancer can perform on any team or division that is not amateur. World Latin Dance Cup reserves the right to cancel any divisions World Latin Dance Cup Inc cannot be held liable for injury sustained by dancers or anyone else attending the event.
