About this Event
7:00 Balance and Projection: Building Presence from the Axis
8:00-11:00pm Practica with DJ Laura
Instructor: Laura Grandi
$20 Lesson, Practica $20, or $30 both
We are pleased to host master teacher, Laura Grandi, who is now based in the Boston area.
Class Objective:
Develop awareness of the axis (balance) and learn how to project the body clearly and efficiently in order to improve connection, movement, and overall quality in tango.
Balance (Axis)
The organization of the body over its vertical axis. The feeling of "standing on yourself" without collapsing or creating unnecessary tension.
Projection:
The intention and direction of movement before executing it. It is not about falling, but about going toward with control and clarity.
Relationship between both:
There is no good projection without balance. The axis supports, projection communicates.
This is an all levels class—from advanced to those who have completed the Providence Tango Beginner’s Series (or equivalent). No partner is necessary, as we rotate partners throughout the lesson. Participants may choose to lead or follow regardless of gender. If you are not comfortable dancing with everyone in class, please contact one of the instructors in advance or come with a partner to work with for the class.
Our classes are open to everyone—all genders and sexual orientations are welcome.
