Let Your Soul Dance with Pilou

Ottawa is welcoming back for the second time the humble yet incredibly talented Pilou Monnerville all the way from Bogota, Colombia! Avoid the dreaded kizomba withdrawal following this year's Montreal Is Kizomba Festival by staying on that kiz cloud a little longer! Take a night to recoup and then join us for a week of workshops and socials in kizomba and brazillian zouk! The 2-Part Let Your Soul Dance Workshop will focus on self-awareness and self-expression while exploring communication, musicality, playfulness and creativity. For a total of 4 hours of workshops (+socials), unplug from the crazy outside world and in to your soul! All-levels are welcome to attend either one or two nights of the workshop. He first fell in love with Kizomba in 2013 while in Argentina when he joined the latin dance team Buenos Aires Dance Club. Following his newfound passion, Pilou trained with Albir Rojas in 2014 before moving to Bogota (Colombia) in 2015. Since 2015, he has been teaching Kizomba, Semba and Urban Kiz, having greatly contributed to the region’s Kizomba community. His approach is based on the understanding of the dance’s cultural background, body awareness and building connection (with yourself, your partner and the music). Pilou has taken the title of Kizomba Champion two years in a row at the 2016 and 2017’s Colombia Salsa Festival! He has also shared his love and passion for Kizomba by teaching in many cities in Colombia, Latin America, Canada and the USA, and by attending many congresses/festivals in Europe, South America and North America. In 2018 Pilou took part in a 24-hour "Secrets of the Soul Dance Therapy Teacher Training" which applies both to Kizomba and his second passion, Brazillian Zouk. Pilou has been cultivating his passion for Brazillian Zouk over the past two years, training privately with Jonathan Leape and Diana Starke. He has taken part in master classes with William & Paloma, Carlos & Fernanda and Kadu & Larissa, as well as an intensive zouk program taught by Xandy Liberato, Anderson Mendes and Brenda Carvalho. His thirst for knowledge lead him to complete the "Couple Dance Teacher Training" with Jaime Aroxa and the "Intensive Training for Zouk Teachers" with Nucleo de danca Renata Pecanha during the month of January in Brazil. Although he has attended congresses in Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and the USA, this will be his first time sharing his love for Brazillian Zouk here in Canada's capital!
