Dates are Saturdays: Oct 24, Nov 14 & Dec 12. Only 10 spaces available because of Covid.
African Percussion Circle: 11-12.30
Life is Rhythm dance class: 13-15.
Dancing is one of the oldest healing tools in the human experience and since 2015 we have spread joy during both dark and happy times in Stockholm. The African drum teaches us how to live life in rhythm, to stay present through ups and downs and feel connected to each other. Many more modern dances can be traced back to African roots such as swing, blues, street dance, salsa, samba and many more. What you can find in common in these styles is the connection to the rhythm and that people have danced to express themselves and feel connected to others.
In most African traditions, you are no one without your community, there is an African proverb that says: alone you can go fast, but together we can go far. Even more so in these Corona times; we need to find ways to come together.
In our team we are: Celso (Moz) ,Li Storm (Swe), Henry Kaboe (Tanz), Ato (Gha), plus frequent guest teachers from other parts of Africa and Sweden.
PROGRAM:
11-12.30 African Percussion circle
12.30-13 Break - Bring snacks to share!

African Percussion Circle:
Bring your own drum or borrow one from us. Let us together explore different rhythms, polyrhythms and signals mainly from East African and Southern African tradition, but other rhythms are also welcome. Play with your hands or bring drum sticks to explore new ways of playing African drums. We also look at how the rhythm is connected to the movement of the dancers.
Level: Mixed levels, you will be challenged depending on your previous experience while the focus is to find the unity in the circle.
Life is Rhythm Dance Class
Each class starts with getting down in your body, and get support from the drum to leave your mind and feel connected to the group. We do different playful exercises followed by movements from different African traditional dances, the origin of the dance depends on the teacher. At the end we unite around the Life is Rhythm Healing Circle: a way to come together and release stuck emotions and open up for presence and joy.
Level: This class is more about letting go and invite connection than about skill level, just come and try it out and you will know if it is for you.
PRICE: Book in advance: 500 for both drum & dance class. 250 for single class. You need to book before each event.

What is Life is Rhythm?
The purpose of Life is Rhythm is to invite healing and community building while honoring the wisdom of African cultures.
Life is Rhythm was founded by Li Storm and Celso Paco under the name Skaka Loss in 2015, which means Shake it Loose in Swedish. We have since then united people in Stockholm around the drum to dance as a community. No matter where you are from, who you are, what your age is, you are most welcome.
Life is Rhythm is a concept where we use the dance and the rhythm to let go of our mind and find ways to express our emotions and feel more alive. We get inspired by different African traditions and how people feel when expressing their culture as supposed to thinking of left and right or right and wrong. Each individual has a unique dancer within, together we let that spirit out.
We celebrate the differences of the thousands of tribes and different cultures and costumes of the African continent, at the same time we acknowledge what is it that brings African peoples together:
Coming together as a community, the rhythm and the drum, the connection to the ancestors and the storytelling through movement and music. It comes down to inviting every individual to explore their authentic self. These rich cultures can show us who we can be through learning the different traditions of these rhythms and dances.
