Lila Familia ~ Haunted & Hallowed ~ Samhain Ecstatic Dance Gathering Dearest community ~ friends ! Join us for a joyful Halloween weekend of community celebration. Together we'll dance, share music and song, feast, sauna, gather around the fire, exchange treasures at our clothing swap, dress ourselves in strange and wonderful costumes, and celebrate the mysterious creative spirit that moves through each of us. A little time to soften into the darker season, gather close around the fire, dance beneath the late-autumn sky, and enjoy a renewed sense of closeness with one another and the land. Come for one night or the full weekend. Bring your tent (or sleep in the house), your warm layers, your dancing body, your open heart, and of course ~ a costume. Everyone contributes in small ways. Food is communal, people help cook, people help clean, fires get tended, costumes mysteriously assemble themselves, and the beauty of the weekend comes from what each person brings into the field. The heart of the gathering is Saturday night. As darkness settles over the land, we’ll gather around the fire and enter the Samhain evening together. The music will begin slowly ~ earthy, organic, mysterious and bass-driven ~ inviting the body to soften, open and arrive. As the fire grows and the creatures emerge, the music will build into a fuller ecstatic dance journey ~ rooted, wild, spacious, strange and alive. This is not a performance space. It is a place to move honestly, listen deeply, be a little ridiculous, dance with whatever wants to move through you, and remember the simple joy of being human together. Costumes are very encouraged ~ witches, skeletons, spirits, woodland beings, ancestors, cosmic creatures, inexplicable thrift-store combinations ~ whatever feels fun. Sunday will be soft and spacious ~ brave river dips, warm tea, yoga, music, slow conversations, integration, wandering the gardens, and resting into the quiet arrival of November. Nothing too rigid. Just a container, the land, the fire, the music, and what we create together. 🍂 Accommodation 🍂 Camping is open, though by Halloween the nights can be chilly. Bring a tent or vehicle setup if possible, along with a warm sleeping bag, extra blankets, and plenty of layers for the evening. Shared indoor crash space is available in the loft of the house for those wanting something simple and communal. The music starts slowly, opens gradually, becomes more expansive and rhythmic through the evening, wanders into some darker and stranger Halloween territory, then softens back into stillness late at night. A space to dance deeply ~ or simply listen by the fire beneath the trees, wrapped in something warm, surrounded by a slightly questionable collection of witches, ghosts and forest creatures.
