Dec. 27th 4:30pm - 5:30pm in BlueRidge: LGBTQAI+ History and Influence in the Harlem Renaissance This is not a lecture! Come and share with us what you know (or don't know) about LGBTQAI+ history in Harlem as it relates to Jazz, Swing and Lindy Hop! Adam Brozowski has been feverishly researching the topic and will share his finding with the group, but much of this history is undocumented or hidden so we invite YOU to participate in sharing in an exciting discussion about the untold history of the LGBTQAI+ influence on Jazz, Swing and Lindy Hop culture! Led By: Adam Brozowski Dec. 30th 4:45 - 5:45pm in BlueRidge: Coming Out on the Floor: LGBTQAI+ Experience in the Global Lindy Hop Scene Today While a lot of great progress has been made, Lindy Hop is still dominated by cis, hetero, male-female partnerships. What has kept LGBTQAI+ people from connecting with this "all inclusive" dance community? What things are happening that are wonderful? How can we use the experience of LGBTQAI+ people in Lindy Hop today to inform great decision making and allyship moving forward towards an even more inclusive and supportive global dance community. Adam and Jacie will also share data gathered from a survey over the last 6 months on the LGBTQAI+ Swing Dancers Network Facebook Group about experiences from around the world.
