About this Event

Learn Lindy Hop, the joyful classic Swing Dance done all around the world! Created in Harlem New York by African-American dancers in the 1920s and 30s. Lindy Hop 8-count Beginner Course 7pm to 8:30pm, 7 weeks, Thursdays July 23rd to September 3rd, 2026. Teachers: Sawako Ono, David Grieg, Charlie Foster Studio, Trinity-St Paul's Center. Registration Here soon: https://swingtoronto.com/ Prerequisite: No prior experience or partner needed. Absolute beginners are welcome. We have two types of beginner Lindy Hop courses, one focuses on 6-count Lindy Hop and the other on 8-count Lindy Hop. These are the two main rhythm patterns in Lindy Hop. You can take these courses in either order, or can take them both in the same session. It is all Lindy Hop. 1/2 price if you have taken our Lindy Beginner 6-count course before, in the same role. (Rounded up to a number ending in zero or 5.) We encourage you to take our courses more than once, to learn more thoroughly, to refresh, learn a wider variety of Lindy Hop movement, and for fun. It will never be exactly the same course twice, especially not with different teachers. Drop-in friendly if you've taken the course before, and for the first class, and if you've taken the previous week's class. Perk: Those taking a Swing Toronto weeknight course in this session get FREE admission to Saturday Night Live Band Swing on September 5th, 2026 (on the Labour Day Weekend). Consider it a graduation party. Swing Toronto website: https://swingtoronto.com Facebook calendar of all Swing Toronto and Waltz https://www.facebook.com/SwingTorontoPage/events See less
