Lindy hop classes in April with Raquel and Lizzie
This event is part of a series.
About this Event
Summer is coming, and JP Jitterbugs will soon return to Jamaica Pond! Get ready and learn a little lindy hop with us!
What is Lindy hop?
Born in the ballrooms of pre-WWII Harlem after the explosion of jazz from the 1920s into the 1930s, and captured on the silver screen in such films as Hellzapoppin (1941), lindy hop is a living, breathing worldwide art form that is highly improvisational, and grounded in a common dance language that we would like to introduce you to.
We'll start with the basics, and work at a comfortable pace. This month, we are offering two levels:
Lindy 1a: Start here if you are new to lindy hop!
Lindy 1b: Continue here if you've taken Lindy 1a or a few beginner lessons!
Who
Us: Raquel and Lizzie
You: Come with or without a partner (we will rotate partners frequently during the class), and come open to either leading or following (choice of role entirely up to you; we just ask that you stick to one role within a class once it begins).
What days:
Wednesdays in April! The latter classes will build on the former ones, but we can work with drop-ins. (You can also pay for a drop-in lesson by cash or Venmo at the door.)
What time:
7-8pm: Lindy 1a
8:15-9:15pm: Lindy 1b
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to get checked in before class starts!
