Lindy Hop Music and History DJ Night w Tracy Alex David & Steve

Come Join us for DJ Night with The Breakaway! We're bringing in some amazing Bay Area DJs who will play some amazing songs for us for a relaxing and informative night. DJing is an art, and each song has a history behind it, come hear about the who what and why of the songs you have come to love. Joining us will be some of our very own DJs: Tracy Lee, Alex Fernandez, David Shen, and Steven Yang. Also, we want to acknowledge the current call against injustice and racism in the society today. What's more, we also want to acknowledge that the Bay Area Lindy Hop dance scene is predominantly white and asian, for a dance that originated in Black culture. So we will also take the opportunity for DJ to share songs with a focus on the African American roots and how we can continue to grow as a scene by learning from them. Addressing systemic racism in our dance community is a difficult ongoing journey, but it is one we feels that we shouldn't shy away from.
